Queen Elizabeth I
The concept of the History Fair project is the importance of Queen Elizabeth I had on the
English economy and politics. Focusing mostly on her identity as Queen, Elizabeth was able to
prove to many people the strength she held in her reign on her own not needing anyone's
validation but her own. Researching the circumstances Elizabeth grew up in allowed a
perspective of the formation of the Queen she will become. Ultimately, fascinated by her
independent mindset of only needing herself and not the company of a man especially allowed
many women at that time to believe that there was a possibility to have power without having a
husband. Additionally, helping to provide a platform where others are able to learn more about
My preliminary research began when I was searching for more context of Elizabeth's
reign wanting to gain more knowledge and how important her legacy was to England. Using
multiple sources I was able to learn more about the crown and the different obstacles the heir
must go through to claim the throne. Keeping in mind that Elizabeth was not the first heir to the
throne nor the second but the third. Initially facing problems of her right to the throne since she
was created out of wedlock. Eventually, I decided to expand my research to the years during her
reign and the methods she used on the throne and how she was able to show the men who
objected of her ruling that she was worthy of the crown. Abstaining from any marriage with men
Elizabeth created the belief of women independence where at the time women were not granted
that right.
Since a presentation category should always reflect the topic well, I chose a website to
complement my topic elegance and royalty. Since my topic is about the English crown, I wanted
to capture the essence of elegance in my design. I chose a light baby blue/ light turquoise color
scheme to represent the idea elegancy and valuable and cursive and light writing to be viewed as
graceful.
Through various exchanges of opinions on her ruling over England Elizabeth was able to display
the power a woman was able to hold on the throne, allowing the world to acknowledge her not
only as a woman but as a powerful ruler over a country. Elizabeth helped provide England with
the resources to expand after her reign has ended and letting her reign forever be known as the
“Golden Age”.
