Maranon, Dualtech agree to sponsor Negrense scholars

On February 20, 2019, Dualtech Training Center, through its partner institution, Buglas
Foundation and the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental signed scholarship agreements for
less privileged youth of the province. The Memorandum of Agreement signing was represented by
Dualtech Center’s Executive Director, Mr. Jerry Muhi, and school registrar, Mr. Rodolfo Sta. Ana III,
together with Governor Alfredo Maranon, Jr. and Buglas Foundation President Mr. Ramon Felix
Gonzales.

This effort, according to Maranon, is the local government’s effort to equalize social disparity
among fellow Negrense by providing quality technical education for the growing industrial demands of
the region. “The tech-voc scholarship is the best investment. There are more work opportunities but
there are less individuals who qualify for the job.” he reiterated.

This vision for the youth of Negros is furthered reaffirmed by Mr. Jerry Webb Muhi as he stated
that there are enough partner- companies for these boys to practice the dual- training system. He added
that, surely, they will eventually become of a number of graduates practicing industrial operations as
technicians and machinists in their respective companies.

Further, Mr. Rodolfo Sta. Ana III shared that “their scholarship program is a step towards
achieving the student’s dream of becoming what they want to be in the future.”

The parents of the scholars who also witness the MOA signing expressed their utmost gratitude
to the people behind this initiative. Undeniably, they say, this was the answer to their prayers of giving
educational opportunity to their sons which they unfortunately struggle to provide.

The first batch of scholars is composed of 20 students from different parts of the province who
passed the screening conducted by Negros Occidental Scholarship Program. While at Dualtech, they
will be taught of Electromechanics Technology that teaches basic industrial skills and personal
development, along with digital electronics and basic automation under the German Dual Training
System.

Also present for the signing were Dr. Portia Mallorca,Department of Education School’s
Division Superintendent for Negros Occidental; Dr. Ma Lina Sanogal, Provincial Planning and
Development Coordinator, among others.
