I. Title
The title of the research project is “the effects of the different parenting styles to
the Self-esteem of the selected students of grade 7-10 of St. Matthew College, San
Mateo Rizal for School year 2016-2017”
II. ID Population

Mateo Rizal for SY 2016-2017
III. Population Size
The selected grade 7-10 students of the SMC, San Mateo Rizal for SY 2016-
2017 totals 304 students.

IV. Sample Size

304(2.58)+(0.01)2 X(1−0.50)
Ss=304 (0.01)+ (2.58)2 X 0.50 (1−0.50)
784 + 0.0001 𝑋 0.50
= 3 + 1.6641
784.00005
= 4.6641

= 168
V. Sampling Design
The Researcher chose the unrestricted random sampling because this is the
best sampling design to be used to this study. The study is all about parenting styles
which every member in the population has a parent that also uses one of a kind
parenting styles out of the four. Unrestricted random sampling occurs when an element
are individually and directly from the respondents or population, this can be said that it
fits to the study about parenting styles.
CHAPTER III
Research Methodology
A.Research Design
In descriptive Research design, the study focuses at the present condition. The purpose
is to find new truth. The truth may have different forms such as increased quantity of
knowledge, a new generalization or a new “law,” an increased insight into factors which
are operation, the discovery of a new causal relationship, a more accurate formulation of
the problem to be solved, and many others.
The purpose of the current study was to examine the relationship between family
processes, more specifically parenting styles, and self-esteem of their children. The
study talks about therelationships of parents and children’s development because of this
study the Researchers chose the descriptive design for it is the best choice for this
present study and to help out by giving the truth that parenting styles can affect one’s
self-esteem.
The researcher’s pick the Descriptive Design because the current study focuses
on the present condition about parenting styles. This is to help by giving them the truth
and only the truth. The researcher’s also aimed to find a new solution for this long time
problem to stop in this present generation. Providing only the valuable facts and focuses
attention on the most important things to solve this problem.
The researcher’s chose Descriptive Survey not only because this is the only type
of descriptive research that is so commonly used but also this is so suitable wherever
the subject vary among themselves and one is interested to know the extent to which
situations are obtained. The survey is also need for this type because it can help the
researcher’s needed date to be gathered regarding the present conditions. The survey
provides value of facts and focus on the most important things to be gathered to be
obtained by the researcher’s
