Please do not post photos from this website claiming that this is your pattern. I
would like to continue to keep these patterns free and available to everyone. This
pattern has only been tested by me so I would like to apologize for any errors that
you do find.
For this project, I used a 3.5mm/E hook and I made the socks to fit size 9/10 shoe.
I used a 2-ply sock yarn (Pink and Truffle Brown), all of which I purchased from
Gnarledpaw. To date, Gnarledpaw is no longer in business. Any sock weight yarn
should work just fine.
Supplies Needed
3.5 hook or 3.25 hook (depending on how tightly you crochet)
Sock yarn (2 ply) PC (primary color) and SC (secondary color)
Stitch terms: Single crochet (sc), double crochet (dc), front post double crochet
(fpdc), back post double crochet (bpdc), slip stitch (sl st), extended single crochet
(EXsc), single crochet decrease (sc dec or sc2tog)
Measuring tape
Stitch markers
There are two sides to a sock. There’s the wrong side and then there is the right
side. When working the sock, you will work on the right side of the sock.

Continue to repeat rounds 3, 4, 5, and 6 until your sock measures from the toe
between 6-6 ¼ inches or to your desired length. Join with a sl st and fasten off.
Switch to new color. If not changing colors then join with a sl st, and ch 1.

This is a little tricky but I will try my best to explain it. Please review photos for
better understanding.
IMPORTANT
You will ch 1 at the end of each round unless otherwise stated.
For this section, you will be turning at the end of each round.
The heel starts with an extended single crochet stitch.
Do not chain too tightly but you don’t want it too loose either.

The outside or right side of the sock should be facing outwards. Join new yarn with
a sl st in the same stitch you fastened off and ch 1.
Page 14

Rnd 3: repeat round 2 until you have 13 sts left. You should be facing and working
on the right side not the wrong side. This is what the heel should begin to look like.
Page 15

You may want to use markers here and mark the corner of your heel. You are now
going to work down one left side of the heel.
Rnd 4: *Put 1 sc in the side st of the row below, 1 sc in the top of the next row
below*. Repeat from * to * down the left side of the heel. Try to get your hook in
between the sts when going in on the side stitches.

See the last stitch on the row... that is the top stitch. The hook is pointing to the
side stitch

Rnd 5: Repeat Rnd 4 all the way to the bottom (to where the heel connects with the
foot). Skip last side stitch. When you get to the bottom, do an EXsc stitch in the
next st which is the sock itself.

Rnd 7: Do the same as Rnd 5 but this time you will be working upward. Put 1 sc in
the EXsec st, and then 1 sc in the side stitch, and then 1 sc in the top stitch until
you get to the top right corner of your sock). Crochet across the top 12 sc sts.

It's helpful to add markers in the corner ends so you know where you need to
put your first sc decrease
Rnd 8: 1 sc2tog down the left side, turn, *sk 1st st, 1 sc in the 2nd stitch and in the
rest of the sts across* (to the marker). Sc2tog down the right side. Turn.
IMPORTANT: After the 2nd row of decreasing, you will see two bumps on each
side. The bumps will tell you where you should do your decreases.
Repeat from *to * until you reach the bumps. Put 1 sc in the stitch to the right of
the bump. Then sc2tog but make sure the hook goes into the left side of the bump
and in the next stitch. Sc2tog over the next two sts. (You will be making 2 single
crochet decreases) Turn.
Page 23

NOTE: When doing the sc2tog stitch, the stitch under the left bump is
slightly hidden. This will be your first sc decrease. You will need to do
another sc decrease over the next two stitches.
Rnd 9: Sk the first st, 1 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in each stitch across to
the next bump. 1 sc into the stitch right of the bump and then do a sc2tog (making
sure the hook goes into the stitch left of the bump), sc2tog over two more 2 sts.
Turn.
Rnd 10: repeat row 9 until you have no more spaces left and the heel is closed up
closer to the sock.

Rnd 11: You should be facing the outside of your work and have close to 24 sts for
the heel. 1 sc in each stitch around. (need a spot to make as the end of rounds). You
should finish on the right side of the sock. Sl st and Fasten off.

This is the left side of the sock. I slip stitched and fastened off.

Rnd 12: Ch 2, *work 3 bpdc sts around the 3 bpdc sts of the two rows below, work
3 fpdc around the next 3 fpdc sts of the two rows below *, repeat from * to * across
the front of the sock. Work 1 dc in each stitch around the heel. Join with a sl stitch
in the top of the ch 2. (48 sts)
