TI = 1.2 min, TD = 0.5 min ).
(b) If the set point is raised suddenly by 1cm, what would be the output pressure?

(b) A temperature sensing device can be modeled as a first order system with a time constant
of 6 sec. It is suddenly subjected to a step input change of 250 C to 1500 C. What
temperature will be indicated after 10 sec.

(b) Define proportional, band and reset rate of a controller.

3. Explain in detail with a block diagram, working mechanism of a PD pneumatic controller.

2. A pneumatic proportional controller is used to control temperature within the range of 60 to


1000 C .The controller is adjusted so that the output pressure goes from 3 psi (valve fully open)
to 15 psi (valve fully closed) as the measured temperature goes from 71 to 750 C with the set
point held constant. Find the gain and proportional band.

3. Explain in detail with a block diagram, working mechanism of a proportional pneumatic con-
troller.
