Death Penalty

Intro: To our distinguished highly respected adviser, to my fellow students and listener, ladies and gentlemen,
a sweet and blessed morning to each and everyone!

Body: Death penalty is also known as "Capital Punishment". It is a legal process where the state sends
an inmate to execution as their punishment for a serious offense committed. But we are not aware on its
effect in the human society. Sometimes we are rattled by the questions such as: Is it needed? just to reduce
the rates of crimes? or is it done properly with the right person? what if the wrong person got into an
execution? can we still compromise and put our trust into justice? These are just a few sets of questions out
of thousand. But our goverment has reasons which are the following:

 It daunt people to commit dreadful crimes.

Criminals will get scared of committing crimes because they will suffer harsh punishments such as; public
hanging, electric chair, and lethal injection. The fear of suffering will discourage this potential criminals to
committ crimes.

 Death penalty will cost the goverment less.

Compared to the costs of life imprisonment because they will be given the expenses of food, health care and
other cost that will sustain their lives. Some critics says that spending for people who committed such heinous
crimes is impractical and just a waste of taxpayers.

 Death penalty will reduce the number of crime rate in the country.

In some case study at the manhattan university says that, 10% of the crimes were reduced out of 100 on
some countries that amends death penalty. Well 10% is not that bad.

These are just some of the valid reasons on why we should amend the death penalty

But regarding on its cons or negative side, the number one reason of not amending the death penalty
is:

 There are innocent people wrongly executed.

I've remembered a story of one criminal accused for rape. A 30 years old man accused for raping an 18 year
old girl in nebraska. Since "rape" is one of the heinous crimes he is included for the death penalty without
reviewing his case and carefully examined the evidences. His innocence was proven after the execution
through electric chair. Where his family witnessed it live while crying and do not trust justice anymore.

If that's the case, we should know that we should not rely sometimes on death penalty, we must
apply discipline within ourselves. Because I always install it in my mind that: " we must value life, for it is the
most precious gift from god above. And it only happen once, so we must not waste it but use it in a good and
productive way."
