My favorite three fundamentals are “Don’t point fingers”, “Own it” and ”Never stop learning”.

The
reason why I chose fundamental # 11: Don’t point fingers is because when a mistake happens, people
want to quickly point out whose fault it is, instead of resolving the problem. I prefer to work together to
solve the problem and later address the mistake that was made so that it will not occur in the future.

Fundamental #12: “Own it”, because I pride myself in taking ownership and responsibility for any task
that I am given and working with excellence. I take every opportunity to work smarter and become more
effective to drive business results for the company.

Fundamental #17 “Never stop learning” I believe this is the cornerstone in my career. Cybersecurity is
always evolving and I like to stay at the top of my game. Therefore, no matter how smart or skilled we
are, there are always things we can still learn. Investing in yourself is truly a lifelong commitment of
mine.

Fundamental # 6: “Get clear on expectations upfront.” This fundamental will be a challenge at the
beginning because I have to build rapport with my colleagues and learn how they communicate.
Repeating back what has been communicated to me to check for clarity or understanding is not usually a
norm at other employers, so it will take some practice to build the habit for this to become second
nature.

Fundamental #10: “Be a straight shooter.” This fundamental will be challenging because I am usually
non-confrontational. In my experience, I have learned that tactfulness is the best way to resolve any
issue as it arises and this occurs once you have built trust and rapport with the team.

Fundamental #21: “Stay one step ahead.” This fundamental will be challenging as I am learning the
environment and standard procedures of TradeStation. As I become more experienced, I will be more
proactive and take control of situations to avoid mistakes and/or surprises.

I intend to positively contribute to the culture by driving a team vs me approach to problem solving. I
value others input to help drive results as a whole. I will bring creative solutions to streamline processes.
I have always been an energetic worker and I will consistently take initiative to help on special projects
and daily tasks.

I believe that incorporating these 26 fundamental values into my core will benefit me professionally and
personally. Living these fundamentals week-by-week will improve my listening and communication
abilities, which I believe will positively impact my interpersonal relationships. Also, I feel that the culture
will provide a positive growth experience in my career in cybersecurity.
