1 Getting started

1 Introduction
Opens a PDF containing guidance on using the Teacher’s Resource 8 materials.
2 Scientific enquiry animations
Links through to a page containing a number of animations that can be used to teach scientific enquiry
skills. Descriptions of the animations can be found in the Introduction PDF.
3 Resources by unit
Links through to a page containing teaching resources divided up by Coursebook unit.
4 Weblinks
Lead to the Cambridge University Press web page for international publishing and the University of
Cambridge International Examinations website.
5 Help notes
Opens the PDF you are currently reading.

2 Files
This CD-ROM contains the following file types.

PDFs
The printable PDF files open using your default PDF reader.

Animations
The animations provided on this CD-ROM are in Shockwave Flash format. You will need a suitable
Flash player to be able to view the animations. You can download Adobe Flash Player for free at
http://get2.adobe.com/flashplayer/

Note that, on opening some of the animations, Mac users may find that part of the title is displayed as
‘undefined’ (shown below). This will not affect the running of the animations.

Saving all resource files to your computer or network

To download and save all resource files, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to the CD drive

2. Right click on the Checkpoint Science Teacher’s Resource icon and select Explore.

3. To save the entire CD-ROM, select all content and copy and paste onto your computer. To run the
contents you will need to double-click on the index.html file.

4. To save the resource files only, you only need to copy and paste the source_data directory to your
computer. The PDF and animation files can be found within this directory.

3 Navigation
Use the browser buttons to move back to the previous screen. The Home button on all screens,
except for the main menu, will take you back to the main menu.

Each link on this page opens an animation file, which will play in your internet browser.

You can scroll down to the links at the bottom of the page.
