WORK PROCEDURE HSE DEPT

TITLE: SAFE MANHOURS CALCULATION PROCEDURE

1.0 PURPOSE:
This procedure specifies the method of calculation of company’s safe Manhours without an LTI
or Fatality.

2.0 SCOPE:
This procedure covers all GBC Plant site based Manufacturing and Non-Manufacturing
permanent employees, GBC contracted employees and contractor work force in both plant and
housing complex areas

3.0 OBJECTIVES:
The objective of this procedure is to:
3.1 Enable the HSE personnel to maintain count of the safe Manhours worked for a given
time in manufacturing division.
3.2 Measure the safety performance of the company.
3.3 Know the completion of milestone 02 Million Safe Manhours in order to announce and
distribute safety souvenir to all employees.

4.0 REQUIREMENTS:
Following requirements shall be observed for exact safe Manhours calculation:
4.1 Daily manpower and manhours sheet shall be sent by HR and IR Sections to HSE Unit.
4.2 The manpower and manhours report from IR/HR will show work hours of all employees
of the division. will show

5.0 CRITERIA AND PROCEDURE


5.1 The required daily manpower and manhours data from IR and HR shall be used by HSE
Unit to compute the exact number of safe manhours done in a given time.
5.2 Current safe manhours shall be started from the last LTI or fatality till date.
5.3 The safe manhours shall become ZERO in case an LTI or fatality occurs. The safe
manhours shall be started over from the very next day on which the accident took place.
5.4 Reportable and Recordable injuries except LTI or fatality shall have no effect on safe
manhours calculation. However, the impact of recordable injuries shall be seen on the current
TRIR of the company.
5.5 For an interim period till the electronic card system is fully functional, following
methodology shall be applicable for computing of safe manhours;

Total Number of Management Employees = 184 (variable)*
Total Number of Staff Employees = 416 (variable)*

Daily Manhours of Staff Employees thru TIS / Day


= 2046 (Average)**
(Staff employees data is taken from TIS on daily basis)

Since,
09 working hours for 23 days a month including crew week = 207
12 hrs. deducted for 04 Fridays in a month (Half Day)
207-12 = 195 working hrs on average / month
Hence;
Average Manhours of a single Management Employee / Month = 195
Total working Manhours of all Management Employees / Month = 35880
Total Working Manhours of all Management Employees / Day
(Management employees manhours data will be taken from TIS = 1196
once it is fully functional)

Note: *Above methodology example is based upon the current manpower in GBC. However, the
values may be changed with the variation in number of employees.
