ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
DANGERS OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
IS IT HERE?
BIGGEST DANGERS OF AI
▸ Superintelligence
▸ Robot overload
▸ Jobless future
▸ Skynet scenarios
Some notable individuals such as legendary physicist
Stephen Hawking and Tesla and SpaceX leader and
innovator Elon Musk suggested AI could potentially be
very dangerous
DANGERS OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
AI IN MILITARY
Vladimir Putin
DANGERS OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
AI IN HEALTH CARE
▸ What if AI programmed
healthcare robot develops a
destructive method for
achieving its goal in a
surgery?
Even if AI systems learn from accurate, representative
data, there can still be problems if that information
reflects underlying biases and inequalities in the health
system
Do you think that in the end everything depends on us?
But…none of that will happen unless human make a
wrong step
DANGERS OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
CONCLUSION
▸ The real risk will come from machines that aren’t yet smart
enough to handle responsibilities humans will give them

Science fiction
That’s it. Any questions?
NOTES
Probably many of you know in a sense what is AI and what it can do and probably in this very
moment have an example where AI is being used or was implemented
Simply said, AI is about making computers smart - smartphones, personal computers and other
devices
It’s about building machines that can think and act intelligently
There's been a lot of talk in the last few years about can AI be a human, so there’s the question
Could it be trained to gain all of the knowledge and apply that knowledge somewhere
I think that it definitely can learn a lot by itself if trained in that way, and can apply that
knowledge if we give it a freedom
As you probably assume, AI and AI algorithms are all over the place, field of AI is really broad
and it is applied to too many fields
For example, Google Search, search that we use every day. Your every search on Google helps
Google’s complex network of AI algorithms and machine learning to be more and more smart.
There’s also big appliance of AI algorithms in digital marketing, everything in order to make
bigger profits and simplify everything. That situation where you see an ad for product you
searched for – days and days after that – that’s AI algorithm doing its magic in remarketing
Google AI algorithm helps Google search in the way, for example, when you search for
something on Google, Google’s AI algorithm saves the keywords that you type and when a
next person type same keywords, first page that will be shown to him will be the one that
helped you the most, whether it was on 1st or 10th page for you on Google search.
Many of the current application of AI have a positive effect on humankind, but unfortunately, if
it falls into the wrong hands - it could go wrong
It is not a surprise to see Microsoft as a first one, considering the fact that they have a lot of
software that many people use. What surprises me is that there’s no Apple. But I’ve heard The
information that Apple has the highest percentage of acquired companies that have something
to do with AI
Almost every day we can see a new device, or a new product that moves the human from one
job position, which is unfortunate
On this photo we can see 4 examples of products and devices that moved humans from their
“job”. Some of them have positive effects, and some of them have negative and risky ones
Throughout the history, many notable individuals talked about AI and its risk. One of them is
legendary physicist Stephen Hawking as well as Elon Musk, Tesla and SpaceX founder. They
suggested that AI could potentially be very dangerous. Bill Gates also talked about AI and he
looks at it from a bit positive perspective
Especially if all of that AI technology gets in a hand of government or individual that doesn’t that
much value a human life
One more way how human can be exposed to dangers of AI, is through application of AI
algorithms into the machines in health care
As we already know, AI systems can go wrong. Humans train it what to do, and based on data
entered, it does the job. Because of that, it can go “crazy” and patient injury or other problems
may result
Do you think that whatever happens, it is because humans wanted or not wanted to do it?
None of that will happen unless human make a wrong step, like a really big wrong step
So, in the end - real risk will come from machines that aren’t yet smart enough to handle
responsibilities humans will give them
On the next slide, there is one documentary that I’ll recommend you to watch, I think it’s from
2018. There are many interesting things about AI there, and this documentary explains the AI
dangers from the start - to today’s state of AI. Also, there’s many famous faces there, so I’ll
definitely recommend you to watch
Second one is the movie from 1968, it sci-fi movie called a space odyssey - it’s not directly
connected to dangers of AI, but it indirectly explains what “smart robots” can do.
