~~~~ DIRECTX AND GRAPHICS DRIVER ERRORS ~~~~
If the game is not running on startup and giving you an error message, first try
restarting your computer.
If this keeps happening, you likely do not have the latest DirectX or graphics
drivers installed.
If slowdown occurs, consider lowering your game resolution and turning on frameskip
on the opening screen.
If certain frames of the sprites appear not transparent where they should be, try
reloading the match
(No Contest -> try again).
~~~~ ONLINE MODE ~~~~

Online play is peer-to-peer, so in order to protect your privacy we recommend using

a program such
as LogMeIn Hamachi or Evolve to protect your IP address.

~~~~ CONTROLLER SUPPORT ~~~~
This game natively supports most controllers your computer can recognize. Please
see the included
Controller FAQ .PDF file for more information
~~~~ MUSIC LOOP POINTS ~~~~

To make a music track use looping points, format it's filename this way:
nameofthetrack__looppoint_overalllength.ogg (mp3)

nameofthetrack can be anything you want (however, please do not include __ twice in
the filename).
looppoint is the point in the song to which the playback should return after
reaching the end of the file.
overalllength is the total length of the track. It can be anything you want and
it's only used to
calculate the position of loop point.
For example, you can use the length of the song in seconds as the overalllength and
the looppoint as
the second to which playback should return. Or, you can use the number of samples
as the overalllength
and the loop start sample as the looppoint.

~~~~ FAQ ~~~~
~~ Features ~~
Q: How do I use the controller support?
A: Plug it in, calibrate outside of the game, set it up in the Controls menu.
Q: Does the game have Stamina mode?
A: On the CSS, click the Player Box button "Settings". With this menu you can set
up certain
settings on an individual character basis that may not be found in other options
menus.
Q: Where is Dr. Mario?
A: Some characters have "Alternates" (forms). When you select one of these
characters (such as Mario),
a floating arrow will appear in your Player Box. Click on this or press the Z/grab
key shortcut
to switch your alt. Some alts are entire characters while others change the moveset
or attack
properties of the character.
Q: I don't want to unlock everything myself. Is there a shortcut?
A: Yes, at the game's Title Screen press the F8 key to immediately unlock all
Characters/Stages.
~~ Music ~~
Q: How do I add character-individual themes for Classic Mode?
A: Themes for particular characters go into music/versus directory, with the
standard filename preceeded by
[charactershortname]_. You can figure out the [charactershortname] by looking at
existing files.
Each character can have more than one theme.
Q: How do I add character-specific victory themes?
A: Replace the files from music/victory to replace the series themes with your own
or add files to
music/victory/individual to give characters individual victory themes, with the
names being
[charactershortname].ogg or [charactershortname].wav. Every character and series is
limited to one victory
theme.
Q: Is there any way to use the character-individual themes in VS?
A: You can use a character-individual theme in VS through c-stick buttons (usually
right stick on the controller).
Depending on the combination of buttons/directions, a theme of a character assigned
to a different controller
port will play.
