Description of Business

Chic and Mix is a developing brand that concerns in crafting products based on ribbon
accessories. We provide hairpins, bandanas, hairbands, and phone case products which is the
favorite of girls and teenagers. The business idea is still very rare in Medan because it needs a lot
of time and creativity to design a useful handmade product. In addition, we are going to sell an
experience to our customer through assisting them in creating and designing their own handmade
fashion accessories.

Product and Services

There are four products that we offer, which are hairpins, bandanas, hairbands and phone case.
All of this products are made and created with ribbon accessories. We provide an unique, classy
and luxurious design of fashion accessories, which perfects every women’s style. Moreover, we
provide a service to teach our customers on how to make their own accessories based on their
preferences and style (custom accessories). With this concept, our goal is to create an enjoyable
experience for our customers in handmade craft field.

We have just started our first batch pre-order from 15th September to 22nd September 2019 by
first selling hairpins. We offer seven models of hairpin collection in our first batch pre-order and
we plan to offer different collections every batch. This is because we would like to differentiate
our products in every pre-order so that the customer will not easily get bored of our collections.
Also, we want to create a sense of urgency and accentuate the authenticity of our products to the
customers. We will launch a new collection as well as open a new batch of pre-order every two
weeks started from 15th September 2019.

We do believe that our collection will be a very high demand products among girls, teenagers
and women because girls nowadays are very focus on their fashion style. So, we are here to
fulfill their demand and will follow up the newest fashion trend in our every batch of pre-order.
We also do hope that we can be the next trendsetter by which Chic and Mix can be the pioneer of
trends, not just being a follower. In terms of competitive advantage, we offer a high quality,
handmade and premium products for all of our products with a low price (started from Rp 10.000
to Rp 25.000 for hairpins). We also offer a guarantee in all of our products within two weeks
after the customer received their accessories.
Suppliers

We find our ribbon suppliers in Palangkaraya Street, Medan, North Sumatera because this is one
of the most popular yet the cheapest distributor of ribbon in Medan.

Manufacturing

We manufactured our product by ourselves using a very basic tool because handmade craft is the
main point in this business as well as to assure every product is made perfectly. We still use a
manual glue specialize for clothing purposes. Glue is the only tool we used in making our
handmade accessories, combined with a beautiful ribbons and laces. We plan to go into a
business to customer strategy plan, so we choose to directly market our products to public. This
is because we want to take care of the originality of our products and to make it luxurious as well
as limited.

The structure shown above is the company structure of Chic and Mix brand. Trifena is the chief
executive officer in the company and in charge of managing the company. She is the one who
also in charge of making sure everything runs well from the beginning till the end of the business
process as well as predicting and making a decision for the company’s long term success. Carin
is the chief marketing officer of the company, who takes the responsibility of advertising,
marketing strategies and promoting the developing brand to be more well-known among our
target market. Christie is the chief production officer who is in charge of the products in our
company. She is responsible for manufacturing the products and inventory management as well
as creating a product that based on company’s concept. Felicia is the chief financial officer who
is in charge of the financial statement and the budgeting part.

Market Analysis

Our target market is 14 to 40 year-old ladies, with low to mid-range incomes. The target
customers are actually the one who really fashion and trend conscious, have an interest or desire
to possess unique and pretty stuffs, as well as living and residing in a city. Chic and Mix targeted
the one who are very sensitive and conscious with fashionable products yet with an affordable
prices. They are actually seeking for trendy products based on their personal styles and
preferences. We do hope that our products can be a solution for them to speak up and show up
their styles and character in order to be more fashionable every day.
We choose girls or women as our target market because we want to break a stereotype of being
pretty and fashionable will cost you a lot of money to spend. Through Chic and Mix brand, we
want to show that every girls and women can style up based on their own characteristic, yet with
a very affordable prices.

We are going to use Instagram as our main tool to promote our business because Instagram is
still the most popular and effective platform in terms of visual that suits our target market. Our
Instagram account is @chicandmix. Moreover, we have our own Line@ business account that
can surely help us in serving our customers in real time. We choose Instagram as our main
platform is because Instagram users in Indonesia are the fourth largest in the world with 56
million users until 2019 (Agustin SetyoWardani, 2019). Also, 49 per cent of the active users
inInstagram are girls and women, which is around 27 million active women users. This will be
surely a great opportunity for Chic and Mix to develop our brand through Instagram.

We might not be the only one who sell accessories in Instagram, but we offer uniqueness in all of
our products because every products are carefully handmade by ourselves, which is our adding
value in offering our products to customer. Not only that, every product is very limited to make
sure our collection is an authentic product. In marketing our products, we will take this point as
our competitive advantage to face the competitors.

Advertising and Promotion

Our main concept in advertising and promotion at the very beginning of this business is doing an
online promotion or online marketing, such as social media marketing, advertise using Instagram
Ads, Instagram paid promote, and even endorsing the celebrity in Instagram in order to gather
huge traffic of our Instagram page. We are totally focus in building our Instagram as our main
platform to develop Chic and Mix brand. This is because Instagram has a powerful effect to our
target market. As research said that Indonesian spend their time at an average of 21 minutes a
day in Instagram (Agustin SetyoWardani, 2016). Also, half of Instagram users followed business
account proved that Instagram is still a very hot platform for businesses.

In our first batch pre-order (15th September 2019 to 22nd September 2019), our promotional
activities are basically still following our first concept, which is focusing on Instagram.
However, we haven’t started our Instagram advertising, we are just promoting the brand in our
personal Instagram account. Not only that, we asked all of our friends to help promoting the page
in order to strengthen Chic and Mix brand and familiarize the brand name at first without
expecting it will be a closing or not. In just a week, we received 231 followers, 1100 profile
visits and 80 pieces of hairpins sales. Instagram is a very great platform for a business because
they provide all of the information that we need, such as the gender of the people who visited our
page, the prime time of our followers, and even we can track our audience.

Business Expansion

Business expansion is one of the most important aspect that Chic and Mix consider while
running this business. Due to the information technology era, there are a lot of tools to be used
by businessperson in order to expand their business. Also, there are a lot of ways and
opportunities for people to run businesses and earn more money, such as reselling products,
dropshipping, franchise, affiliate marketing and many more.

We have a plan to create a team called “C&M Business Group” as a platform for people that
would like to start a business. We want to create a business opportunity for them to learn more
about business. The groups are actually adopted dropshipping system, but also a platform to
learn and grow business together. This is because our goals are not only about creating army of
our dropshippers,, however we want them to have more network especially in business field as it
will bring a positive influence as well as great experience for all of them. The group is also a
place for us to build a solid team through sharing our knowledge and experiences. Chic and Mix
also provide a forum for our VIP Dropshipperto learn about branding and marketing as that is the
most important part of business skills. We will create for them a line group to make a class that
explain the secret of marketing and branding. They will have an unlimited access of the group
and they can learn more about business there.

Not only that, Chic and Mix will give a business opportunity for the dropshippers through
teaching them how to sell our hair accessories products. We also help them in branding as we
will design a new brand tag based on their online shop name and logo. The interesting part is
they will not have their own inventory as having own inventory is quite risky for the newcomers.
Chic and Mix can directly send the products to the dropshippers’ customer (optional). So

At first we opened our business, we collect Rp 247.000 per person (four persons) as our
first capital to cover up our equipment and materials needed to create our products, such
as buying the glue, needle and string, ribbon material, paper bag and brand tag (Rp
987.000 in total). Meanwhile, for the business licenses, rent and electricity, we are going
to pay for it the following month, hopefully with our profit that we get in the business.
