SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH FOR GRADE II

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of one-hour session, the students must be able
a. identify words that have opposite meaning
b. match pictures with opposite meanings
c. appreciate concept of opposites through songs

II. SUBJECT MATTER AND MATERIALS


Topic/Lesson : Antonyms (words with opposite meanings)
Materials : Visual Aids, Pictures, Crayons, Books, Marker, Manila Papers

B. Motivation
Let the pupil sing the song “How are you this morning?” Below is the copy of the song:

Open your book.

After singing the song, let the pupils read and answer the following questions:

What can you say about the words highlighted with yellow?
Are they the same or opposite in meaning?
How about the words highlighted with blue?
Are they the same or opposite in meaning?

C. Activity
Divide the class into four groups. Each group will be given a different task which they
will present after the given time.

E. Abstraction
After the presentation of each group, discuss with them that the word with opposite
meaning to a given word is called an antonym. Give more examples for a deeper

Let the students make a sentence that uses antonyms of the following words:
