Negative Effects of Cyber Bullying to Student’s Academic Performance

Introduction

Cyber Bullying is a form of bullying or harassment using electronic means. This is also known
as an online bullying. It has become increasingly common especially among teenagers. Cyber
Bullying is where someone, typically young teens, bully or harass others on social media sites using
their digital devices like cellphones, computers and tablets. Cyber bullying can occur through SMS,
text and apps, or online social media, forums, or gaming where people can view, participate in, or
share context. It may includes sending, posting , or sharing negative, harmful, false, or mean context
about someone else. It can include sharing personal or private information about someone else
causing embarrassment or humiliation.

Recently, the media has exploded with tragic stories and consequences of cyber bullying.
Many young teens are victims of cyber bullying for they are really harassed and offended in social
media such as in twitter and in facebook that could really affect their social motivation and academic
performance in school. People really have to understand more deeply about cyber bullying for
researcher may able to identify its negative effects to someone who is affected.

The researcher choose the topic The Negative Effects of Cyber Bullying to Student’s Academic
Performance because some students are unconscious for the effect of cyber bullying. That’s why the
researcher choose this topic to aware the students of the negative effects of cyber bullying.

The purpose why researcher need to understand the Negative Effects of Cyber Bullying to
young teens, or students is to get to know or really familiar what really is cyber bullying and its
negative effects.

Statement of the Problem

1. What are Negative Effects of Cyber Bullying to Student’s Academic Performance?

Scope and Delimitation:

The study focuses on students and effects of cyber bullying to their studies. This study
includes how does cyber bullying relates to their academic performance.

The study happened at Liangan National High School.

The researcher study started on November 2018 until February 2019.

Significance of the Study Benefits

 Parents - In this study, the parents will be aware of what their children done in the school and
they will advice their children.
 Students – Should know about the rules, regulation and punishment if they will not stop cyber
bullying. They are hurting somebody.
