Cargo Management System

The cargo management system is an application that will help in maintaining the cargo trading

either through ship or airline or locally. This application can be used by the company to know

about the cargo quantity that is managed within its warehouse. This application can drastically

reduce the pen paper work as it can be automated. It can also help in storing the information in

a more easy way. The data can be stored easily through this application. The user interface will

be simple and user friendly. This will be one of the interesting applications that one can

implement in real time world.

The main aim of this application is to reduce the manual effort involved in tallying of

cumulative bagging and cumulative dispatching. The efficiency will be improved since

automated system is used by everyone. In the existing system, the information related to the

cargo is stored through the pen paper work. This application will create an automated system.

The data will be stored with great ease through this application. This application will reduce

storing the data in multiple registers. People can even track the cargo that has been traded

through airline or ship or locally with great ease. Daily reports can also be generated through

this application.

The cargo companies can use this system. This stores complete details of cargo inventory

details starting from purchase, sales and stock records. This system stores cargo details, cargo

item records, stock records, etc. This website project will store cargo details, shipping details,

delivery records, stock records, etc. This system developed using PHP and mysql database. All

the record stores in the database.

The features that can be included on the cargo management system application are as follows:
Cargo information: The information about the cargo managed by the particular company

can be managed through this application.

Customer database management: The details of the customers like name, address, contact

details and cargo related information can be stored with great ease.

Track: The users can track the cumulative bagging and cumulative dispatching at the end

of every day.

Report generation: Daily reports can be generated based on cargo, shop, warehouse etc

Customer who receives the cargo items .

1) login in the website

2) Tracking

3)Update deliver status

4)send feedback if any

SYSTEM STUDY

System study and analysis is important activity that takes place when a new system being built. It
is the central intact of system development and it includes gathering and interpreting facts,
diagnosing and using this information to recommended improvement to the system. System
analysis gives the structure and functioning of the system and it specifies what the system should
do. It is helpful to understand the problem and emphasize what is needed from the system.

Before designing a computer system, which will satisfy the information requirements of an
organization, it’s important that the nature of the business and the way it currently operates are
clearly understood. This process of system investigation includes several methods of gathering the
required information. It is important that the approach is appropriate to the system under
consideration and the user of the system. System analysis should be creative and imaginative in
producing new solution to meet the user requirement. In brief , the system is analysed by gathering
various information such as system functionality, problems encountered, requirement of the
proposed system, user, their takes and responsibilities.

EXISTING SYSTEM

The manual system of cargo management consist of manual files. These files consist of a set of
records .A record likely consists of all the information about goods that will be exported and
terms of agreement that will enable the transaction to be successful. These files are usu ally
stacked in shelves according to divisions (with the file number identifying each export good) in
a room in the offices. These piles of files make the offices look unity. Other problems in the
existing system are the large piles of files, errors in the handling of forms and redundancy,
that is, putting unnecessary duplication of records in files.

PROPOSED SYSTEM

The new system will use a centralized database to tackle the storage problem. The consignment
data will be well stored and protected. The computer system memory will be large. There will
also be extended and expanded memory facilities. In the event of increase in the volume of
information, the system can always be upgraded to take care of the in. The proposed system will
be used for a very long time because provisions are made for update. The new system will be more
efficient in terms of inputs, process and output of information. Information will be accurate,
complete, clear concise and legible.
FEASIBILITY STUDY
The “CARGO MANAGEMENT” is a software package which provides guidance for all the cargo
items. This project will provide for computerization of a small enterprise whose main goal is to
keep the details of optical items etc and wants to change from paper based transaction to
computerized transaction. Feasibility study is test of system proposal according to its workability,
impact on organization, ability to meet the needs, effective use of resources. During the study, the
problem definition is crystallized and aspects of the problem to be included in this system are
determined. The result of the feasibility study is a formal proposal. If the proposal is accepted, we
continue with the project. User needs a data-based system, which will remove all the mentioned
problems that, the user is facing. The user wants a data-based system, which will reduce the bulk
of paper work, provide ease of work, flexibility, fast record finding, modifying, adding, and
removing.
We proposed our perception of the system, in accordance with the problems of existing system by
making a full layout of the system on paper. We tallied the problems and needs by existing system
and requirements. We were further updating in the layout in the basis of redefined the problems.
In feasibility study phase we had undergone through various steps, which are described as under:

Cost:The cost required in the proposed system is comparatively less to the existing system.
Effort:
Compared to the existing system the proposed system will provide a better working environment
in which there will be ease of work and the effort required will be comparatively less than the
existing system.
Time:
Record finding and updating will take less time than the existing system.

ECONOMICAL FEASIBILITY
The proposed system “CARGO MANAGEMENT” is economically feasible one. We do not want
to keep lot of books for storing the data. By manipulating data using computer reduces cost. We
do not want lot of employees; we simply want one to operate it, Administrator.
Economic analysis is most frequently used method for evaluating the effectiveness of a candidate
system. More commonly known as cost/benefit analysis, the procedure is to determine the benefits
and savings that are expected from a candidate system and compare them with costs. In my project
I make use of the existing systems which have PHP installed on them along with the database
which is MY SQL. so we can say that the project is economically feasible.

The only possible fixed costs involved with the system would be paying for people to write the
code. It is possible that faculty would be willing to write the code for free, or students would be
willing to work on it as a project. There are no variable costs associated with this system- since it
operates on the servers, the department does not pay anything for each use of the system. The
tangible benefits will mostly be in time savings for the current administrators, as well as a
simplified process for activities. The intangible benefits would be increased system involvement
among faculty members and decreased workload on the current administrators.
TECHNICAL FEASIBILITY
The project “CARGO MANAGEMENT” can be said to be technically feasible because there will
be less number of errors actually no errors because the whole project will be divided into modules
such as admin, users and employee management and so the errors if found, can be debugged very
well and all the bugs can be removed. Technical feasibility centres on the existing computer system
and to what extend it can support the proposed system. It involves financial considerations to
accommodate technical enhancements. If the budget is a serious constraint, then the project is
judged not feasible. Here we need only a computer working in low speed to accomplish the task.
Since the system uses database to implement, it is technically practical for all operators. The
system can be implemented on the servers that the department currently has access too. The system
requires no special expertise to operate, although some expertise will be required to code it.
OPERATIONAL FEASIBILITY
The proposed system “CARGO MANAGEMENT” can be easily accepted as it is very easy to
understand and is very user-friendly. The operations and other features of the proposed system is
designed in such a way that the user can easily find the data, insert the data’s etc. The organization
will not be disturbed by the use of this system because, the users will be provided with prompts
which will enable them to use this software very easily.
People are inherently resistant to change and computer has been known to facilitate changes. An
estimate should be made of how strong the user is likely to move towards the development of
computerized system. These are various levels of users in order to ensure proper authentication
and authorization and security of sensitive data of the organization. Therefore it is understandable
that the introduction of a candidate system requires special efforts to educate and train the staff.
The software that is being developed is user friendly and easy to learn. In this way, the developed
software is truly efficient and can work on any circumstances, tradition, locales. Operational study
strives on ensuring that the equilibrium of the organization and status quo in the organization
neither are nor disturbed and changes are readily accepted by the users.
