A. Content Standards The learners demonstrate understanding of the digestive system
and its interaction with the circulatory system , respiratory system
and excretory system in providing the body with nutrients for
energy.
B. Performance Standards The learners presents an analysis of the data gathered on disease
resulting from nutrient deficiency

Specific Objectives 1. Identify the functions of the digestive system
2. Describe the main organs and functions of the digestive
system by performing an activity
3. Suggest practices that promote proper care of the different
organs of the digestive system
II. CONTENT
A. Topic The Digestive System
B. Subtopic 1. Digestion is the process of breaking down of food. It
happens in two phases: mechanical and chemical digestion.
C. Concepts 2. In mechanical digestion , larges particles of food are
broken down into smaller pieces. In chemical digestion,
large nutrients molecules are broken down into smaller
nutrient.
3. The major organs for digestion are mouth , esophagus ,
stomach, small intestine , large intestine and anus.
4. Some of the ways in promoting proper nutrition are the
following:
a. Choose foods that nourish the body.
b. Drink a plenty of fluids
c. Exercise daily
d. Maintain healthy lifestyle and good nutrition.
