Chapter 1
THE PROBLEM AND ITS SETTING

Introduction

Education is substantial in the world, for it could reform the world and can contribute to

self and social change. Education is one of the solutions, next to action, to various obstacles and

challenges of teachers and learners, today(Mestiola,N-aquita,Tenco 2018). The life and work of

teachers are often shaped by their beliefs and knowledge, educational experiences, and perceived

competence or self-efficacy, on the one hand, and by the changing macro-context of educational

systems, the meso-context of school districts and schools, and the micro-context of individual

teachers.

Studies focused on ‘teacher characteristics’ found that those with relatively short

experiences and non-traditional teacher education tended to be more mobile than others. Studies

focused on ‘student characteristics’ showed that factors such as student misbehavior, and schools

with student intakes from minority groups and low socio-economic status as well as low

academic achievements affected teachers’ decisions about staying or leaving.New strategies and

teaching skills have evolved and continuously developing that teachers can use for effective

teaching.

The researchers was motivated to conduct the study to those public school teachers so as

to know the enjoyment in their profession as well as the sacrifices that they give just to teach and

to stand to their wants to give knowledge to every students they have specifically in Santa Rosa

Elementary School Central 3.

Operational Framework

Statement of the Problem

Generally, The study will focus on understanding and describing the lived experiences of Public

School Teacher. Specifically, it will answer the core questions:

1. What are the participant experiences in being a public school teacher ?

2. How do these experiences affect their method of teaching ?

Assumptions of the Study

The researchers will base this study on therefore following assumptions:

1. The participants struggles with salary, facilities and benefits.

2. This struggles and issues greatly affects teachers in a way that they cannot teach properly due

to lack of equipment and lack of financial support.

Scope and Delimitation

This probe will mainly dwell on understanding and describing the lived experiences of the

teachers working in public school. The researcher will also establish the relationship between

one’s perception on a phenomenon and the environment he or she is exposed to.

The participants of this study will consist of 6 public teachers of Santa Rosa Elementary

School Central 3. It is funded by the Government. The teachers have bachelor's degree and

masteral degree in education. With at least 3 years of experience in teaching in Santa Rosa

Elementary School Central 3.

Significance of the Study

This study will beneficial to Community. The community will understand and respect

their Public School Teacher by knowing their lived experiences.

This study would also be benefial Students. The students will provide with some

knowledge about the lived experiences of a Public School Teacher, and how to help their Public

School Teacher through their lives. And at the end of this study, students would help their Public

School Teacher through their lives.

A Teacher can be their friend when the time is low. A teacher should know-how are the

life of a Public School Teacher and help their Public School Teacher friend. They will see in this

research how are the lived experiences of a Public School Teacher.

As for Santa Rosa School Central 3 This research can be guide for Santa Rosa Central 3 to a

better understanding of the lived experienced.

The result of this study may also help Department of Education. To better understanding the

experience faced by Public school teacher.

The study could be beneficial to Government. As this study participants are Public school

teacher, the Government could benefit in this study to better understanding the experience faced

by Public school teacher.

This study also consideres to Future researchers. This research will be a useful reference for

the future researchers who would plan to make any related study about the lived experiences of

the Public School Teacher.

Definition of Terms

The following terms to be used in this study are defined conceptually and operationally:

Nation is a territorial division containing a body of people of one or more nationalities and

usually characterized by relatively large size and independent status (Merriam-Webster,2019).

Life - the quality that distinguishes a vital and functional being from a dead body (Merriam-

Webster,2019).

Public School - a free tax-supported school controlled by a local governmental authority

(Merriam-Webster,2019).

Teacher - one whose occupation is to instruct; one that teaches (Merriam-Webster,2019).
