Abstract

IoT contrlled LED Matrixes are the Matrixes which can be operated by a Wi-Fi enabled
phone through an android app. Content or the information that will going to display on LED matrix
can be update by an android app. So we can easily change information on matrix when we needs.
Because of Wi-Fi technology speed between input and output is increased. Here range is also
increased so we can control LED matrix by just sitting in our cabin, office, or home.
Introduction

Source of Idea: We get the idea of updatable LED matrix while travelling in PMPML bus. While
travelling to college in city bus, the wrong route name was displayed on board. The driver wanted
to change the route name but he can’t because the circuit of LED matrix is complex and needs to
reprogram the controller. So we decided to find the solution for this.

Current Trends: Currently we are using the LED matrixes that shows pre-loaded content or text.
To change that content we need to reprogram the controller manually. Otherwise it will shows the
same text again and again in a loop. Wireless LED matrixes are available but either they are so
much costly or they are Bluetooth controlled and their range is less i.e. almost 10 meters.

Contribution Towards Advancement: We modified the current LED matrix and make certain
modifications in it.

1.We use Wi-Fi module (ESP8266) so we can change text or information displaying on matrix
remotely or suddenly when we needs.

2.Due to Wi-Fi range of use is increased. So the user can control it in Range of 100 to 150meters.

3.In Wi-Fi LED matrix we can give input through an android app. So it becomes easy to handle.

4.Because extra added various patterns and designs than normal matrix, user can text more
creatively and effectively.

Algorithm/ Workflow:

1. Finalizing our system design.

2. Collecting all the components and modules.
3. Assembling the LED matrix and power supply.
4. Making of controller setup of Atmega 328.
5. Coding of the system controller.
6. Android app development for input.
7. Testing and Error correction of system.
8. Finally build the system as per design.
Advantages of Project:

1. We can change text or information displaying on matrix remotely or suddenly when we

needs.

2. Due to Wi-Fi range of use is increased. So the user can control it in Range of 100 to
150meters.

3. We can give input through an android app. So it becomes easy to handle.

4. Because extra added various patterns and designs than normal matrix, user can text more
creatively and effectively.

5.Complexity of normal LED matrix is reduced and making it compatible.

Applications:

1. In city buses when routes needs to be change suddenly on display matrix.

2. In hospital as a notice board.
3. On railway stations, platforms, airports, bus stops where important notices are to be
given.
4. In government or private offices.
5. Can also be use as a digital clock.
6. At public places like parks, roads, stations, buildings where sudden instructions are to be
given at the time of emergency.
