4.2 Variable Torque

Overview:
Typically Pumps & Fans applications require that a variable torque is used due
to the nature of the applied load.

Aims:
To set the drive for Variable Torque.

Narrative:
As the drive is to be used with a pump application, the nature of the load is such
that the drive should be set for Variable Torque.

Notes:

Instructions:
Follow the exercises given to you, setting the parameters to configure
the drive suitable for use within the system.

1 Description of the requirements.

You decide which parameters to use and their settings,
The settings should be tested and optimised as required.

2 Description of the requirements PLUS the parameters to use.

You determine the correct settings of the given parameters.
The settings should be tested and optimised as required.

3 All parameters and settings are given.

You implement the settings.
The settings should be tested and optimised as required.

Level 1.

1 Consider the parameters to be used to set the drive for Variable Torque
application.

List the parameters used in the box provided.

Parameters:

2 What settings would you apply to the parameters.

List them in the box provided.

Settings:

3 Implement the settings.

4 Test the settings.

Modifications/Notes

Level 2.

The parameters that you should consider using are:

P0205 - But not on the small drives in the demonstration cases
P0500 P1300 (hint: this is dependent on P0500

1 What settings would you apply to these parameters.

List them in the box provided.

Settings:

P0500 = P1300 =

2 Implement the settings.

3 Test the settings.

Modifications/Notes:

On 11kW and above, setting P0205 will increase the power output of the drive,
reduce the overload capability and set P0500 and P1300 automatically

Level 3.

The parameters that you should consider using are:

P0205 = 1 - But not on the small drives in the demonstration cases
P0500 = 1; P1300 = 2 (set automatically when P0500 = 1);
1 Implement the settings.

2 Test the settings.

3 Consider any modifications that you may make to improve your settings.
List them in the box provided.

Modifications/Notes:

On 11kW and above, setting P0205 will increase the power output of the drive,
reduce the overload capability and set P0500 and P1300 automatically
