1.1 PLD

The PLD (Pump line nozzle) is located direct on the engine block (picture 1). The main
function of the PLD are calculated commencement and duration of injection and the plug
pumps are actuated accordingly via solenoid vales. The PLD-MR control unit processes the
data received from the sensor (picture 2,picture 3) and from the FMR control unit for example
the position of the speed control(accelerator pedal or throttle lever), engine start/stop, engine
brake etc. and compared to the characteristic maps or lines stored in the PLD control unit.
ALL the necessary information/data between the PLD unit and the FMR unit are transmitted
only along the CAN- BUS system. The PLD control unit has a full diagnostic capability, i.e.
all inputs and outputs are monitored.

1.2 FMR (vehicle engine control)

Main function of the FMR control unit

1. If ignition switched off storing vehicle- specific data. Storing the corresponding fault code
in the event of a fault.
2. After ignition is switched on 24V voltage supply of the electronic foot throttle actuator,
constant monitoring of connected components and constant monitoring of data from PLD
control unit through CAN.
3. When engine is started a check is made in the FMR control unit to determine whether a
gear is engaged, before the PLD control unit enables the start and crank engine functions.
4. When engine running or when driving:
• Computation of quantity input
•Vehicle speed limit
•Output of FMR speed signal tml. W to the PLD control unit
•Actuation of exhaust flaps and decompression valve through a solenoid valve
•If the emergency running speed is exceeded more than 1400 rpm in overrun the
driver is able to operate the decompression valve even if the CAN link is faulty. The
decompression valve is switched off again once engine speed drops to 1300 rpm
• Tempomat and Temposet function
The FMR control unit has a diagnosis capability, i.e. fault codes and actual values can be read
out

1.3 ADM (Adaptionsmodul)

The ADM receives the data from the FMR- and PLD control unit and sends these signals
forward to the control- and warning lights. Furthermore, it sends signals to measuring
instruments, i.e. coolant temperature. Through the connection to the diagnostic plug (picture
4), all other electronics can be read out via the CAN- BUS- system.
