HOW I USE THE GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. MATHEW HABBERJAM YR6

Physical Courage
If a person, maybe my friend is threatening to hurt, I will intervene and stand up to the bully by reminding
them that it is wrong to disobey God’s teachings. I will use the gift of courage by putting others before myself
and always thinking about other people’s needs.

Moral Courage
I can use this gift if my friend is acting and speaking with the wrong mindset. This ties in with right judgement
because sometimes it is good to know when to say no. It will be risking my relationship with others, but it is
for a good cause, if they are not behaving with right attitude.

Right Judgement
Right judgement can be seen in our daily lives a lot. This helps me when I am faced with a decision, like if I
reach out a helping hand, or go down the wrong path. In all this gift will guide me on my journey in faith and
will help me grow stronger with God.

Wisdom
To be wise is to be open minded about others. I should never judge them and instead of picking out their
faults, I will search within to find their inner qualities. I will show this by always seeing the positives in a rainy
day and to remember that God made all of this.

Wonder and Awe

The gift of wonder and awe helps us to see the beauty in God’s world and to respect His creation. I will help
protect wildlife so that many generations can witness the wonderful world. Sadly horrendous things are
happening to our natural environment, so we will have to push to preserve this planet.

Understanding
Understanding is a gift that helps us to remember all of Jesus’ teachings. If I am struggling, I can always look
to the Bible readings and think ‘What would Jesus do?’ I can be inspired to help others through His acts of
kindness, and to have a deeper understanding of the readings at Mass.

Knowledge
Knowledge helps me to see God’s greatness and to recognise the beauty of the world. I should understand
how God has guided me through my years and how He has always been by my side to help. I should
appreciate how God has made everything, my family, my friends and my house.

Reverence
Reverence is the true passion we show and how we all love one another. God created us, so we need to
respect Him with joyous hearts and praise Him.

(These are the writings from Mathew, one of our Year 6 pupils at Rothwell St Mary’s.
Such great wisdom beyond his years. Well done.. Pay heed!).
