ACKNOWLEDGE

At the very beginning I would like to express my deepest gratitude to almighty Allah for giving
me the strength and the composure to complete my ADAF courses and prepare this report within
the scheduled time.

I am ineffably indebted to Mr. Ahsan Zaki of The Lahore Corporate Professional Sports Club
(Pvt).Ltd for conscientious guidance and encouragement to accomplish this assignment. On the
very outset of this report, I would like to extend my sincere & heartfelt obligation towards all the
personages who have helped me in this endeavor. Without their active guidance, help,
cooperation & encouragement, I would not have made headway in the project.

Bearing in mind previous I am using this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude and special
thanks to the Chairman of CPS Club MR Ahsan Zaki who in spite of being extraordinarily busy
with his duties, took time out to hear, guide and keep me on the correct path and allowing me to
carry out my project at their esteemed organization and extending during the training.

I express my deepest thanks to Prof. Asif khan for taking part in useful decision & giving
necessary advices and guidance and arranged all facilities to make life easier. I choose this
moment to acknowledge his contribution gratefully.
PREFACE

My overall experience of preparing this report was a knowledgeable journey. I learn a lot
about the functions of CPS Club. Apart from this, by actually conducting this report, I also
learnt practical application of what I have been studying in overall Associate Degree Program
Accounting and Finance.

For completing this project I required the annual report of last year of CPS Club business
processes and SWOT analysis. I got my required data from the website of CPS Club.

While conducting this report I faced some problems in getting the data as at website data is
not managed very well. So I consulted with the chairman of the company he helped me a lot
for further information and the knowledge of what I have studied in ADP AF also came in
handy. Once everything was found out it got very interesting.

2.2 Services
 Clothing and equipment service health services
 Volunteer worker
 Improving sports services
 Coaching
 Organization of event and program
 Registration and accreditation services
 Fundraising services
 Information services

2.2.1 Clothing and equipment services

CPs is very helpful for beginners because all equipment are very expensive and this

quite difficult for beginners to buy but CPs always support them. For example, sailing
boats, rowing shells and gymnastic equipment are all very expensive and need to be provided by
clubs.

 Long trousers ( white).

 Jockstrap with cup pocket into which a "box", or protective cup.
 Abdominal guard or "box" or an L Guard for male batsmen and wicket-keepers (often
referred to as a cup, box or ado guard).
 Sun hat, cricket cap or baseball cap.
 Spiked shoes to increase traction.
 Helmet (often with a visor), worn by batsmen and fielders close to the batsman on strike to
protect their heads.
 Leg pads
 Thigh guard

5
2.2.2Volunteer worker
Sport and recreation organizations are staffed in the main part by voluntary (unsalaried) workers.
While volunteers may be passionate about their organization, the voluntary work they perform
usually has a lower priority than their paid work and family responsibilities. As a result the
amount of work carried out to organize services, programs and events may be inconsistent.

2.2.3 Coaching

Sport and Recreation experiences are more rewarding when participants receive instruction from
"experts". As a result of such instruction and the skills learnt by participants, they will usually
reach a higher standard of performance, acquire greater knowledge "of the game" and play more
safely. Consequently, the role of the coach will be many and varied, from instructor, assessor,
friend, mentor, facilitator, chauffeur, demonstrator, adviser, supporter, fact finder, motivator,
counselor, organizer, planner and the Fountain of all Knowledge.

In relation to sports, the role of the coach is to create the right conditions for learning to happen
and to find ways of motivating the athletes. Most athletes are highly motivated and therefore the
task is to maintain that motivation and to generate excitement and enthusiasm. The coach will
need to be able to: assist athletes to prepare training programs, communicate effectively with
athletes, assist athletes to develop new skills, use evaluation tests to monitor training progress
and predict performance.

Therefore, you can see that it is a very difficult task and requires a very special person.

6
2.2.4 Improve sports services
An important task of the sport manager is to ensure that services delivered by the organization
meet the needs and expectations of members and/or customers.
There is a constant stimulus for the improvement of sport service delivery as a result of:
 Competition from similar organizations in the locality
 Competition between sports
 Changes in the demographics of the catchment area of the organization
 The influence of the media on the tastes and expectations of the organization’s membership.
 Changes in government policy and/or changes in law
 Requirements made by funding agencies

2.2.5 Organization of program and event

The organization and scheduling of events and programs is a key service that enables people to
actually participate. This service includes liaison with other sport organizations or clubs,
coordinating officials where needed, and communication internally to ensure everyone knows
what is happening. The events industry now includes events of all sizes from the Olympics down
to business breakfast meetings. Many industries, charitable organizations, and interest groups
hold events in order to market themselves, build business relationships, raise money, or celebrate
achievement.

The process of planning and coordinating the event is usually referred to as event planning and
which can include budgeting, scheduling, site selection, acquiring necessary permits,
coordinating transportation and parking, arranging for speakers or entertainers, arranging decor,
event security, catering, coordinating with third party vendors, and emergency plans. Each event

is different in its nature so process of planning & execution of each event differs on basis of type
of event.

7
The event manager is the person who plans and executes the event, taking responsibility for the
creative, technical, and logistical elements. This includes overall event design, brand building,
marketing and communication strategy, visual production, script writing, logistics, budgeting,
negotiation, and client service.

2.2.6 Registration and accreditation services

Sport and Recreation organizations need to ensure that coaches and instructors, and often the
participants themselves are accredited for the activity. This necessitates keeping a database of
accredited persons.

The accreditation service is closely aligned with coaching and instruction services outlined above
and ensure that participants have sufficient knowledge to undertake the activity safely.

2.2.7 Fundraising services

Sport and Recreation organizations frequently have to raise money to make improvements to
facilities and programs.

Sport and Recreation organizations therefore need to raise money from a variety of sources
including governments, the corporate sector (sponsorship), general fundraising from the public
and engaging in profitable programs.

Fundraising is a major preoccupation of most sport and recreation organizations. Sometimes

professional fundraisers are employed.

8
2.2.8 Communication services
An organization has to employ every means at its disposal to communicate with members,
clients and the wider community about its programs, services and events.

2.2.8.1 Social Media

Social media such as Face book and Twitter is a fast and good communication strategy for
general promotion communication. If you want your organization membership to be talking
about a new event, then Face book is the way to go. However, it does not reach all sections of
your membership. Many people either refuses to have or use a social media account, or do not
have the technology or skills to access social media.
Social Media does very easily allow repeat promotion or carrying updated news to your
community. This strategy has to be a serious aspect of any communication program nowadays.

2.2.8.2 Website
Every organization ought to have a website, but having said that, there are many problems, issues
and complications to be faced.

Many organizations have a website that is run by a volunteer. If the volunteer is passionate then
the website will be well-managed. After a while, however, the volunteer will be less passionate
and the website is in danger of becoming obsolete.

9
2.2.8.3 Poster

Putting up a poster in a prominent place is a useful and sensible form of communication. The
poster won't be seen by everyone but those who do see the poster will assist in relaying
information to others by word of mouth.

Posters would be a suitable means of communicating:

 Vacancies on the committee

 Upcoming events
 Changes to opening hours
 Closures for maintenance
 If you can put up the poster in more than one location in places where it will be seen by
many. Don't leave the posters up after the event has past.

2.2.8.4 Email

 Email is a preferred form of communication due to the substantial ease with which emails
can be transmitted to a large number of people, at virtually no cost. However, there are
some important issues.
 Although we are living in the 21st century, many people cannot be securely reached by
email, even when they provide an email address. People often don't know their own email
address well enough, or check their email accounts very infrequently. As a result emails
are returned "The following addresses had permanent fatal errors".
 It's very frustrating! It is the simplest and least expensive form of communication but not
suitable for the most important communications.

10
Chapter 3

3.1 Sports ecosystems

3.1.1 Lahore cps club:

Sports ecosystems comprise different dimensions or segments that go into establishing and
developing a sport and there are various stakeholders in each segment. The evolution of a sports
ecosystem may be evaluated by the extent of interaction and awareness among stakeholders,
within and across various segments. The levels of transparency and professionalism of the
system, coupled with growing awareness of all stakeholders, decide the extent of sports
ecosystems evolution. The cps which recommends how to identify key stakeholders and address
their issues and challenges is likely to go a long way towards strengthening sports ecosystems.
For example, in cps club, the locations which were targeted for studying, analyzing, and testing
all seven dimensions, to understand the question “What is required, in relation to stakeholders
(qualification and investments), to produce a winning team in any professional sport?”.Thus, the
sports ecosystem developed is aimed at confederations, federations, and especially clubs, which
depend on crucial stakeholders to improve their strategies and tactics regarding marketing and
business.

There are seven levels of stakeholders, in which each one has a specific function:

3.1.1.1 Sport governance:

Sports clubs must implement a governance mechanism based on four principles:

 disclosure - information transparency;

 compliance - following management rules;
 fairness - being ethical in business practices to deal with shareholders and investors; and
 accountability – responsibility of decision-makers and management.

11
3.1.1.2 Training of trainers:
What strategies does the coach use to prepare the team for the match? Which skills are more
appropriate for training a team? These questions are about coaches and their work for the sports
club.

3.1.1.3 Sports infrastructure:

 There are two kinds of stakeholder at this level:
 public facilities, e.g., transportation, security, etc.;
 private facilities, such as the stadium, health professionals, hotels, academies, stores, etc.
These facilities aim to improve results in a league, and also to provide services to fans.

3.1.1.3 Sports equipment:

There are two categories of goods and souvenirs produced using the sports club brands - sports
goods (t-shirts, shorts, shoes, caps, jackets, etc.), and non-sports goods (food, drinks, toys, etc.

3.1.1.4 Leagues and tournaments:

There are two types of stakeholder at this level, (a) institutions (federations) which organize and
design the league, as well as the competition level, considering other sports clubs, and (b) media
and TV broadcasting organizations, which cover matches within the league, and newspapers,
internet, etc.

Performance incentives: Stakeholders which provide some assistance to young players, such as
scholarships for education, psychology orientation, support to communities, social works, etc.,
and assistance to former players, in order to value and thank them for representing the sports
club over the years.

3.10 1 Ball
The international rules specify that the game is played with a sphere having a mass of 2.7 grams
(0.095 oz) and a diameter of 40 millimeters (1.57 in).[23] The rules say that the ball shall bounce
up 24–26 cm (9.4–10.2 in) when dropped from a height of 30.5 cm (12.0 in) onto a standard steel
block thereby having a coefficient of restitution of 0.89 to 0.92. Balls are now made of a polymer

while the opposite player will.

3.10.6 Kabaddi
Kabaddi is a contact team sport, played between two teams of seven players. The objective of the
game is for a single player on offence, referred to as a "raider", to run into the opposing team's
half of a court, tag out as many of their defenders as possible, and return to their own half of the
court, all without being tackled by the defenders, and in a single breath. Points are scored for
each player tagged by the raider, while the opposing team earns a point for stopping the raider.
Players are taken out of the game if they are tagged or tackled, but are brought back in for each
point scored by their team from a tag or tackle.
