Workshop/questionnaire

 One: definition of state?

This word STATE refers to the situation in wich people, objects, entities or contexts
can be found at a given time. This also covers the ways of being in the course of
time. This word comes from the Latin Status that means being stopped. Over time,
the word began to used to refer to the state of something at a given time, a use that
spread rapidly in politics to refer to the republic.

Within the context of politics, the State is a form of socio-political organization that
tries to be an entity with sovereign power, to govern and perfom political, social and
economic funtions within a delimited geographical area. The elements that
constitute the State are population, territory and power.

 two: list the elements of the Colombian states?

o The town or population: The population is represented by the men and

women who llive in a given territory. It´s important to highlight that the state
seeks the development and welfare of the people.
o The Territory: The Territory id the physical basis of the state represented by

the maritime air land space and subsoil the state is limited by borders.
o The Power: The Power of the State is represented by the laws when creating

norms and guidelines protects the individuals that are part of the town in
order to assure them of their well-being.

 Legislative Power: It´s responsible for drafting the laws, regulations

and standars that make up Colombian Legislation. Likewise, they must
ensure the correct implementation and enforcement of these laws. It´s
constituted by a Bicameral Congress, which is made up of the Senate
and the House of Representatives.
 Executive Power: It´s headed by the President of the Republic, who is
elected by popular vote to exercise a four-year presidential term.
According to article 191 to the Constitution, the requirements to
quality for the presidency of Colombian nationality by birth, to be a
citizen in practice and to be over thirty years of age at the time of the
election. Likewise, the executive branch is is made up of the Vice
President of the Republic (also elected by popular vote), the Ministerial
cabinet, the directors of the administrative departments an the
superintendents. Similary, at the regional level this power is
representing by the governors of each state and the mayors of the
municipality, who are elected by direct suffrage in their respective
jurisdictions.

 Power of Attorney: He´s the commissioner of guaranteeing the fair

and correct application of laws, as well as resolving conflicts of law
among Colombian citizens. This power is supreme Court of Justice,
the Constitutional Court, the Council of State, the Superior Council of
 the Judiciary. In addition, the special jurisdictions and the Attorney
General´s Office are also part of the judiciary.

 three: define Sovereignty?

Ther term sovereignty comes from Latin and consists of several parts, sober, which
means above, the suffix – anus, which is translated as origin, and the suffix – ia.
Thus,we can say that sovereignty is the quality of sovereign, it´s the right, the quality
or the power that the sovereign has, being this excellence, the highest autgority or
the supreme and absolute highness that has authority over everything else, is the
one above the rest. Sovereignty is also superiority not surpassed in any intangible
order, for example, the superiority or sovereignty show by the runner in a race
