CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

Rationale and Background of the Study

Our country nowadays are experiencing fast climate change

because of global warming. We are experiencing typhoons and hot temperature

because of fast climate change. According to National Aeronautics and Space

Administration (NASA) the hole in Earth’s ozone layer that forms over Antarctica

each September grew to about 8.9 million square miles in 2016 before starting to

recover, according to scientists from NASA and National Oceanic and

Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) who monitor the annual phenomenon.

Because of the fast climate change every time that there’s a typhoon we can’t

prepare ourselves completely. More tropical cyclone (TCs) are entering the

Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) than anywhere else in the world. With the

average of 20 TCs in this region per year, with about 8 or 9 of them crossing the

Philippines. The peak of the typhoon season is July through October, when

nearly 70% of all typhoon develop.

Tropical cyclone, also called typhoon or hurricane, an intense

circular storm that originates over warm tropical oceans and is characterized

by low atmospheric pressure, high winds, and heavy rain. Wind vanes measure

wind direction and are often used with anemometers, which measure wind

speed. Many measurements of air pressure are used within surface weather

analysis to help find surface troughs, high pressure systems and frontal

boundaries. These concerns and systems we’re the basis of the Typhoon
Indicator Wind vane. The main objective of this study was to make/construct the

Typhoon Indicator Wind vane as a Typhoon and Wind detector.

Typhoons can cause serious damage to unsuspecting travelers or

homeowners, so it is important to understand the characteristics of these storms

that’s why we’re having our research for this kind of study to improve our daily

lives.

This study aimed to easily detect the upcoming typhoon is a wind vane

that can determine wind speed, wind direction, wind humidity and temperature.

Typhoons can cause serious damage to unsuspecting travelers or homeowners,

Statement of the Problem

General Problem

A. This study aimed is to make a device or equipment that can observe

typhoons.

Specifically, it sought to answer following questions:

1. What will be the possible things that will happen if the Typhoon Indicator

Wind Vane has successfully completed its purposes?

a. We can easily know if there’s a typhoon disturbances.

2. What Typhoon Indicator Wind Vane can do to the community?

3. What are the future opportunities in creating Typhoon Indicator Wind

Vane?

Hypotheses of the Study

Ha- The typhoon indicator wind vane will be used to determine if a

typhoon will arrive in your city.

Ho- The typhoon indicator wind vane will not be used to determine if a

storm arrives in your city.

Scope and Delimitations of the Study

This study focused on determining temperature, wind speed, wind

direction, wind humidity, its extend and coverage as well as to determine on how

strong the typhoon is. This project was conducted at Mapandan National High

School – Mapandan, Pangasinan this school year 2019-2020. The study was

conducted at July- September.

Significance of the Study

This study made use of Electronic materials to convert in Typhoon

indicator wind vane that observe the wind speed, wind direction, and

temperature. This serve as alternative weather indicator in the news on TV.

This is beneficial to our life because we depend on weather condition if the

weather condition is rainy and our job is outdoor it is quite difficult for us. The

Typhoon Indicator Wind Vane tells us the information about the weather forecast

for the day or incoming days.

the process to produce the output of Typhoon Indicator Wind Vane.)

Conceptual Framework

This study revolved on studying the typhoon indicator wind vane as a

observer of temperature, wind speed, wind direction, wind humidity, its extend

and coverage as well as to determine on how strong the typhoon is. Therefore

this can help the government organizations or private sectors and also other

people to have an update for typhoons and natural disasters that might fall into

our country. This study will help us to easily determine if there’s a typhoon,

especially our farmers and other people living in a higher places/area.
