Datasoul: Overview and basic controls

1. MINIMUM REQUIREMENT
• Operational System: Windows XP, Vista or 7, Linux or MacOS
• Processor: 1.4Ghz
• Memory : 2Gb
• Video Card 3D Accelerator 64Mb: you can use the Datasoul with a single output, but you
can get the best performance using two or three outputs - the main to the operator, the
second to the public and the third to the backstage return.

2. DATASOUL OVERVIEW:
Follow an overview with a simpified division about the main screen of the software. Based
on this picture we will learn how to work with the basic controls of Datasoul:

In each marked area we have:

(1) Main Toolbar: here are located all the general controls.

(2) Service: this is the description of the cronological service order. Here you will add, edit and
delete items to the service. In the picture 2, from the top to down we can see the Service Title,
Service Toolbar(add, delete, edit, move up and move down), after we have the Service Order and
Service Notes.

(3) Music Library: you can create and add new musics to your library. When you click on the Music
Library the screen showed on the picture 3 appears. From the top to down we have the Library
Toolbar, Music List and the Lyrics.

(4) Display Controls: here all the Service Items are showed in the text format and with the divisions
by slides.

(5) Output: you can control the video output in this area. The picture 1 shows the controls to the
Main Output (the toolbar with Black, Hide and Show buttons) and the checkbox to Show the
speed controls, which controls the speed of slide transition and hiding.

(6) Alerts: when you click on Alerts, the following screen on picture 4 appears. From the top to
down we see the field Text, Recently Texts, Template, Duration and the buttons Alert and Cancel.

(7) Return: here you can see a miniature with the preview of the item that is been show on the
Main Output.

(8) Preview Item: this is a miniature with the preview before the selected item be showed on the
Main Output. The button Start Presentation sends the item to the the Main Output.

3. SERVICE ORDER (SO)

3.1 What is a SO in DataSoul?

A SO is a container that shows all the events in the service using a cronological order. It´s
by the SO that the exhibition order of datashow will be controlled and organized (music, Bible
texts, pictures, Office Files and others). After create an SO, you can save it and reuse every time
that you wish.

2.2 How to create an SO?

We´ll use the areas 2 and 3 showed before on the pictures 1, 2 and 3. First you need to
give a title to the service using the field Service Title. To add a music, just drag and drop a music
from the Music List to the Service Order and you´ll get a new item like showed on picture 5 bellow:

You can add other kind of items to the Service Order just using the button Add:

• Add Texts: just give a title, insert the text and press the button Save. That´s ready, a new
item appears on the Service Order

• Add Verses List: this option automates the procedure, you need just choose the Bible
Version that will be used and type the desired verses (example: Exo 3:1-4) then press the
button Save.
 • Add Imagse List: the same procedure will be used to include images on the Service Order.

After include all the items in the Service Order, just press the Save button on the Main
Toobar or access the menu 'File – Save as' and save your file. We strongly advise you to create
an exclusive folder to your Service Order files.

2.4 Showing the SO items on the Main Outuput

Case 1: If you have a video card with two or more outputs configurated to be the Extended
Desktop (see the manual of your operational system), the datashow is conected on the secondary
output and the Datasoul checkbox "Preview selected item before showing it on outputs" is
selected, follow the next steps:

• Single click over the item on the Service Order and a preview will be displayed on area 8
(see it on picture 1)
• On area 8, press the button Start Presentation and the item will be displayed on area 4
• Go to the Main Toolbar (see it on picture 1) and press the button Show Output. Now, the
secondary output is showing the Datasoul default background and the first slide.
• Now, to change the exhibited slides just a single click on the area 4.
• To show another Service Order item, just repeat the procedure: a single click on any item
and then press the button Start Presentation.
• On the area 5 (see picture 1) you have the Main Output Controls, and you can make the
screen be on Black, Hide the presentation or just Show it.

Case 2: If you have a single video card output the procedure are the same on the case 1, but the
slide exhibition will happen on your main screen.

3 BACKGROUND IMAGE
You can change it just accessing the button Background on the Main Toolbar (see picture 1)
and choosing a new one. We strongly advise you to use neutral images, without strong or shocking
illustrations.
