ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT
ON
CAREER GUIDANCE WEEK CELEBRATION

I. INTRODUCTION

The very high level of educated unemployed youth is a huge contributing factor to

our country’s unemployment rate. Job-skill mismatch has always been pinpointed as a

reason for this problem consistently persisting in the labor market. In addition to this, is

the inability of our jobseekers to obtain employment appropriate to their backgrounds,

choose the right career and find the right job. Thus, good career guidance has the

potential to address these issues, as it is also able to raise aspirations and broaden

horizons among the youth.

It can help the youth to develop self-awareness and resilience, source and evaluate

information and make sound decisions about learning and work. It helps them in their

preparation for their entry to the strenuous labor market.

II. OBJECTIVES

1. Acquire information on discovering one’s strengths and develop awareness on

making informed decisions on a career choice.

2. Experience careers they are aiming at.

3. Match their interest with the possible career in a given array of choices.

4. Identify a career fitted to one’s interest.

III. ACTIVITIES

Fishing Village Comprehensive National High School had successfully conducted the

Career Guidance Week Celebration as the Pilot school of the Division of Davao Occidental. The
said activity was launched last July 24, 2017 and culminated last July 28, 2017. It started with a

motorcade which was highlighted with magnificent floats from the five municipalities of Davao

Occidental. The float showcased the different Senior High Offerings of every municipality.

Students also added the glamour of the motorcade as they wore and flaunted their professional

attires.

Booths from the five municipalities were also displayed along the covered court where

actual demonstration of the Senior High School Offerings were done such as Actual Welding,

Bangus Deboning and Housekeeping etc.

The Launching Program started at exactly 9:00 o’clock in the morning which was

participated by the invited stakeholders/LGU’s, Partner agencies, Regional visitors, Division

personnel, District Principal In-charge, Secondary School Heads, Davao Occidental Network of

Guidance Counselors, Teachers, Parents and students.

As part of the week-long celebration, the Values teachers from Grade 7 up to Grade 10

integrated their lessons in line with the Career Guidance inputs especially on Career and

Employment Coaching using the Holland Codes. Students profiling to Grade 7 students was also

done. Posting of successful alumni tarpaulin was also part of the week-long celebration. Grades

10, 11 and 12 students were also to express and post their dreamed career in the career wall.

It was indeed an inspiring and momentous event on the part of the parents, teachers and

the whole Division of Davao Occidental family most especially to the students because they were

able to act like real professionals and they were given inspiring and invaluable inputs necessary

for their career choices in the near future.
