#ControlTechnology
#DontLetItControlYou
We all know that we live in a world where technology has accelerated and its impact is immeasurable,
it is used for almost everything and like EVERYTHING! We use technology on a daily basis to
accomplish specific tasks or interests and there’s never a dull moment. Today, our cellphone acts as
our mini laptop having almost all the tools that your PC does but now it offers more flexibility which
lead to set our minds that our phone is more important than anything else. Think about the times
when you wake up in the morning, what will be the first thing on your mind? Most of us think about our
phone right? Check the time, quickly connect to the internet and check if someone reacted to your
posts in social media and etc. Sometimes we forget the track of time and keep ourselves busy like
watching videos, movies, playing games in computer or cellphone, searching information that
interests you and etc.
Now as technology evolves, the question is, so do we? Or we get left behind?
In this Modern Age, we have no choice but grow with it, unless if you can survive in desert or
mountains with no technology. We use emoji to summarize text messages and text messages to
avoid “5 minutes seems like 1 hour conversations”. Now the moment when technology slows down or
seem like there are some technical issues, it would make us scream (literally) or just in our minds and
hit the machine or throw it because we think that by doing this, it would feel like we are back in control
of making it go faster and perform better (even though some part of it is damaged). Sometimes we
depend too much on technology that our thinking capacity, creativity, and originality gradually reduced
because almost all information are on the internet.
As technology improved and upgraded from time to time, we may want to ask ourselves:
-is this a necessity? Or an accessory?
-Did it become something we can’t live without? Or is it something we can carry about but then
discard when the time is right?
The simple pleasure of the 5 things we once needed to live is air, water, food, shelter and sleep also
quickly included the technology, even though it’s not stated. We are unconsciously blinded by our
belief that we’re the one who takes control of technology but in reality technology is the one who takes
control over us. Don’t let technology eat up too much time! Go for a walk, visit a friend, read a book,
breathe, hug, meditate and get more sleep.
Remember what Christian Lous Lange said,
“TECHNOLOGY IS A USEFUL SERVANT BUT A DANGEROUS MASTER”
