Outcomes:
At the end of the session, the participants
will:
1. Categorize testing oneself as one
example of metacognitive strategy.
2. Differentiate different kinds of
vocabulary tests.
3. Acknowledge the importance of testing
oneself to enriching one’s vocabulary.

should come to the front. The first group who
sends the right person/word gets the point.

Groups E & F will join this game. There are


10 words to be flashed. One word will be
flashed at a time. Each group should send
a representative. The first player to give a
definition gets the point.

group will be given the same words.
On the board are six categories. The
goal is to group the words under the
correct category faster.

Groups C and D will play again. One
member from each team will be called at
a time. Each of them will be given a fly
swatter. A set of words will be flashed on
the screen. When you hear the signal,
“Swat the odd one out!”, you try to swat
the word that doesn’t belong. The team
which gets more point wins.

Groups E and F will play this game. They will
form two lines. I will flash an incomplete
sentence on the screen. After which, I will call
the first members of each group to view a
word. They have to whisper it to the next person
in line. The next person will then whisper it to the
next and so on and so forth. The word should
be transformed by the last person to correctly
complete the sentence. One point will be
given to the group whose last member gives

the correct transformed word
