Humanity has come a long way from using primitive tools to living in skyscrapers today.

All this
development has been accompanied by a sharp rise in the average age of a human being thanks to
the advancements in medical sciences. Medical science experiments test the developed drugs on
animals before they can be deemed safe for human consumption. Unfortunately, this
experimentation on a living being can seem cruel and inhumane, and there are many activists who
want a total ban on such experiments.

The average age of a human has shot up from around 30 years two millennia back to 75
years today. All these advancements have come through the dedication of brilliant scientists who
refused to give up and found medicines to beat plague, small pox and many other deadly diseases.
All these medical compounds are created in a laboratory and once a scientist is confident that she
has found the right drug, trials are conducted on animals to test their efficacy and safety. Also, there
are companies in the fashion industry who test their products on animals to ensure they are safe.

It is true that humans have been responsible for many atrocities that have been done on
animals. Animals have been domesticated and used for labour against their wishes in inhospitable
and gruesome conditions. There are activists working for animal rights who have shown the cruelty
with which some animals are still treated in farms and elsewhere. A drug test done on animals can
cause them to suffer immense pain and can also lead to their sudden death.

I am of the opinion that animal experimentation can be justified where it leads to the
betterment of human society. But just like humans developed cars and tractors which freed the
animals from being used for transportation and agriculture, a similar change needs to be brought
about in animal experimentation. We should strive for a world where the betterment of humanity
does not come at the price of animal suffering.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing this letter to bring your attention to the loss of my cabin bag which I forgot inside your
airplane at the London airport last week. I had taken your 3 am flight from Edinburgh to London for
work on the 19th of this month. When the flight landed in London at 4 am, I was half-asleep and
forgot to take my bag with me before I de-boarded the plane.

My bag was stowed in the overhead compartment of seat 12A where I was seated. It is a brown
leather bag of medium size and the words 'American Tourister' are embossed on it. It contains an
iPad, a Kindle, a diary and some pens. It has a few of my business visiting cards as well.

I only realised I had forgotten my bag when i reached the hotel. It would be on immense help if
you could ask your cleaning staff if they found the described bag while cleaning the airplane that
day. If it is found, please give me a call at my mobile number and I will come and it. My flight ticket
and identification has been attached.

Yours faithfully,

Sourabh Shekhar
