IS 4998-1992 (Reaffirmed in 2003) - Analysis and Design Procedure

Along Wind Load Calculation - Simplified (Peak factor Method) - Shell Only

From Staad file, take DL+WL case with 1.0 factor - extract beam end forces.

From Staad file, take DL+WL case with 1.0 factor - extract Displacements

As per 4998-1992, Clause 5.3, Notes: Secondary effects due to deflection to be

calculated.

(Vertical load at node) * (Relative deflection at the node)

Actual Moment + Secondary moment = Final Bending Moment

Final Axial Force = Vertical Load

Shear Force = Shear Force

Final Bending Moment = Final Design Moment

Similarily, for the following cases also to be calculated Design Forces for

Along-Wind Responses

Across-Wind Load Calculation - Simplified (Peak factor Method) - Shell Only

Mode Shapes are from corresponding Staad file.

Net peak Deflection, Dimensionless mass damping parameter, Equivalent mass per

unit length - Calculation as per Clause number A-4.2 of 4998-1992.

Sectional force per unit length and moment shall be calculated as per A-4.2.1

Above or only across-wind load responses

Co existing along-wind loads to be calculated based on Vcr (A-4.3)

Use HMW - k2 bar value for Co existing along-wind loads

vb = Vcr/(k1*k2*k3) k2 = k2 bar at 2/3 height

VZ bar = Vb*k1*k2 bar*k3, for k2 bar at different heights

Resultant of reponses from across wind and co existing along-wind shall be as per

SRSS - Square Root of Sum of Squares
