LESSON PLAN IN PROFEE-04

I. Outline:
At the end of the lesson, students can learn to:
A. Distinguish the properties of matter.
B. Identify objects according to which they belong and;
C. Explain the proper sorting of solid, liquid, and gas by citing examples.

II. Content
Topic: Ways of sorting materials and describing them as Solid, Liquid
and Gas.
Reference: Dungan Ramirez, Cristeta et al 1997, Moving Onward with Science and
Health 3, page 56-69.
Materials: Pictures, visual aids, Laptop, colored paper, and bottles.

III. Procedure
A. Preliminary Activity/Preparation
1. Routinely Activity
1.1 Prayer
1.2 Checking of attendance
1.3 Reviewing past lessons
B. Developing Activity
2. Proper exercise(previous topic)
C. Activity/Motivation
 The teacher prepared a song about the State of matter;
 The student song will be the “Solid, Liquid, Gas”
 The pupils are divided into (4) four groups;
 The teacher will distributed the different pictures of solid, liquid and gas;
 The students/group will identify where the pictures belong and they will
post whether in solid, liquid or gas group in the board and;
 Each group must have at least one representative to explain why it
belongs to that group.

D. Analysis
 What can you notice/say about the different pictures in different groups
of matter?
 Is there any differences among them?
 Why do we need to know and classify them according to their group?
E. Abstraction/Lesson Proper
 The teacher will discuss about the Properties of matter and its
characteristics and way of sorting objects according to which they belong.
 Follow-up/Guide Questions
 How was the proper way of sorting materials from solid, liquid
to gas important in our daily life?
 Why is it important to know and study the properties of
matter?

F. Application/Post Learning Activities


 The teacher will provide another task to the students.
 The teacher will divide the pupils into (3)three groups:
The First group will draw things/objects that are made from SOLID;
The Second group will draw things/objects that are made from LIQUID and
last;
The Third group will draw things/objects that made are from GAS.

CRITERIA:
Content- 20 points
Creativity- 10 points
Cleanliness- 10 points
Delivery- 10 points
Total - 50points

 They are given (5) five minutes only to work on their activity.
 Each group must have at least (1)one representative to explain their work.

IV. Evaluation/Assessment
Test I.
Directions: Identify what properties of matter the following objects. Write S if it is
Solid, and L if it is Liquid and G if it is Gas. Write your answer on the space
provided. (2 points each)

1. Wind 6. Carbon Dioxide


2. Ice 7. Gasoline
3. Water 8. Orange Juice
4. Turtle 9. Wood
5. Chair 10. Crayons

V. Assignments
 Direction: In a short bond paper lists all the things that you have in your
house. Sort them from solid, liquid and gas. Write as much as you can and
present it in front of your classmate.
