SYSTEM DISCRIBTION
The IR light curtain series WSE 81 PLUS and WSE 155 PLUS consist of a transmitter detector (TX) and a receiver
detector (RX), they can be installed on the car door dynamically or statically on the doorsill. The detector system
provides an IR light curtain with a crisscross beam pattern in the area of the car entrance. If any beam is blocked, the
output is triggered and switches to reopen the doors again.
INSTALLATION
The systems can be installed either on the moving
doors or statically in a position on the end of the
doorsill.

SYSTEM CONNECTION
The system can be directly connected to the lift controller or door operator. In such cases the opto-relay output inside
the RX detector drives the "door re-open" circuit on the lift.
Warning – direct connection requires good understanding of both, lift and detector electronics. Any incompatibility
between the two systems may cause a permanent damage to either. Do not apply supply voltage directly across the
opto-relay as this will result in damage. If you have any doubts then you should use a WLS Power Supply instead
(see Fig 4 for connection details of WLS).
Please check:
• DC – do not use any AC supply.
• Regulated – do not use any unsmoothed supply
• Negative ground – do not use a "positive ground" supply (since the black 0V wire is connected to the earthed
metalwork).
• Correct voltage – the voltage must be at least 11V and never exceed 42V DC under any circumstances.
• Peak ripple voltage should not exceed 42V, and average voltage not exceeds 42V.
• Sufficient power – the supply must be capable of supplying at 100mA plus whatever current is needed to drive the
"door re-open" circuit on the lift.
Note – if you have any doubts then you should use a WLS power supply.
IMPORTANT:
1. Do not shorten cables by cutting them.
2. Ensure that all cables are kept away from AC mains or high voltages
3. Ensure that all power to the lift is completely turned off while wiring the detectors.
4. Connect the TX and RX cables to a voltage free terminal block on the lift car as shown in Fig 5. We recommend always
connecting the 0V (black) wires first. Connect the car-top terminal block to the lift controller or door operator using
the wires as shown
5. Turn on power to the system and fully test the installation.

The detectors of the WSE 81 PLUS and WSE 155 PLUS Series are supplied with learning mode (automatic beam
disabling) enabled the first time the detectors are switched on.
To switch off beams
- Block those beams that are (or will be) disabled using opaque tape.
- Please keep free the invisible communication diode between 1500mm and 1520mm from bottom before and
during the disabling process.
- Switch on the power to the detectors, ensure the space between the detectors is unobstructed & wait for 20
seconds for the special timeout to complete.
- After this period the detector will be un-triggered indicating that the learning process has finished. The LED will flash
at the normal slow rate, but the disabled beams will be inactive when the opaque tape is removed.
- When the 20 second timeout has completed the detector will switch back to normal mode, so at the next power
cycle it will not go into learning mode, but it will remember those beams which need to be disabled.
To re-enable learning mode the detector must be switched on with ALL the beams (including previously disabled
beams) unobstructed. To prevent the detector from having the learning mode enabled accidently when the power is
cycled then at least one beam must be always be obstructed.
