PC – Personal Computer
Personal computer contains a four main parts
• Central Processing Unit (CPU)
• Visual Display Unit (VDU) / Screen / Monitor
• Input Device – Key board
• Pointing Device – Mouse or Touch pad

Operating system (OS)


• Operating system is a main program which operates your computer.
• When you switch on your computer, OS is the first program which starts loaded in computer
memory. This process is called booting.
• Windows XP, Windows 7, 8, 10, Mac, Linux are popular operating systems.

Turn Off Computer
To power off your computer do the following:

Windows XP
• Click on Start Button.

• Then click on Turn Off Computer button.

• Then click on Turn Off button.

Windows 7

• Click on Start Button.

• Then click on Shut down button.

How to use Keyboard?
• To type one capital letter press that key with Shift key.
• Use Caps Lock key to start and stop typing in all capital letters.
• While typing when you reach to the end of right margin it will automatically drop text in next
line.
• While typing if you like to remove last typed character which is appear on left side of cursor
Press Backspace key from keyboard.
• Press Enter key from keyboard to break line and start new paragraph.
• To add five spaces at paragraph’s first line Press Tab key from keyboard.
• To move your cursor use arrow key (   ) from key board or mouse click at the position.

How to use mouse?

• Angle of mouse should not change.


• Click means press and quickly release left mouse button.
• Double Click means simultaneously press and quickly release mouse button twice.
• Right Click means press and quickly release right mouse button.
• Drag means press mouse button and move mouse and release at different place.
