1. The girl’s name is Bianca Zoey Denise Tan. Her nationality is

Half Chinese and half Filipino. She’ll turn 18 this coming November.

3. The main points are about the cultures of China. I’ve learned
that Cultures are a part of one’s self. It identifies your race and
sometimes your habits, traits and even attitudes.

Their culture is a bit far from our culture in the Philippines though
we actually have a culture that is similar to them which is when you
wear all-red, people will think that it’s your birthday. Chinese said that
it’s because the color red symbolizes prosperity. But the difference is,
here in the Philippines, it wasn’t really necessary to wear red when it is
your birthday. Any color is just fine.

Another thing is, if Chinese bows down when they see people or
familiar faces, Filipinos are different. They simply nod their heads or
just smile when they see a friend or an acquaintance. And when they
meet their relatives that are older, they’ll bless or do the traditional
“mano po”.

Chinese also experience discrimination from non-Chinese people.

One of today’s trends is calling them ‘ching-chong’. Millennial are the
one who made that name-calling famous. It wasn’t supposed to be an
insult but of course it might seem like that when they are often called
that.

4. Problems are quite normal when having interviews with people

that are busy. It’s hard to compete with a lot of schedules from busy
person. But it was resolved eventually. We already grab the
opportunity to talk to her as soon as she said she have a free time. We
even checked her schedules as to when she’s free to answer the ten
questions we prepared.

I think there wasn’t any problem or challenges that we

encountered in communicating with the girl because she’s multilingual.
She can fluently speak Chinese and English. She can also understand
Filipino. It wasn’t hard asking her those questions.

5. I agree with the girl’s answer in question number 1o. I ain’t a

Chinese but siomai is a food that they should be proud of, from a
personal view, siopao also taste good, too good that even Filipinos
made business out of it. I don’t know about Radish cakes because I
haven’t eaten one yet. But I would like to try some in the future.

I also agree with her answer in question number 5. About the

similarities between the cultures of Philippines and China. Filipinos
absolutely values family. Even if their parents were already old, they
are still the one taking care of them. They are giving back the sacrifices
that their parents made for them when they’re still young. Unlike in
other countries, they’ll put their parents in the ‘Home for the Aged”.

Chinese are known for being business-minded type of people so I

agree with what she answered about the Chinese beliefs that she’s
applying in a daily basis, which is “It’s better to run your own business
than be an employee for another business”

10. I could have learned something about their arts if the girl
elaborated her answer since art is one of my favorite to explore. She
could have told us about the traditional Chinese operas or the way how
the paint their canvas. There’s a lot to learn in every country.
