Program, Activity and Project (PAP): KAPIHAN SA PSA RSSO II

I. RATIONALE/SITUATIONAL ANALYSIS:

One of the Philippine Statistics Authority’s functions is to disseminate and publish

statistical information relating to the country’s economic, social, demographic and
general activities and condition of the people. This is an integral part of the agency’s
effort to promote and increase awareness of the relevance of statistics in society.

For the year 2020, as part of the agency’s efforts to intensify people’s awareness to
the policies, programs and services, the PSA RSSO II through the Statistical
Operations and Coordinating Division (SOCD) is proposing to conduct series of
meetings with the local media twice a month, and will be dubbed as, “Kapihan sa
PSA RSSO II.” This will be an avenue to inform and update the media partners of
the programs of the PSA.

In its initial meetings, the group shall focus their discussions on the conduct of the
Pilot Census for the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (CPH). Especially, the
census aims to provide government executives, policy makers, and planners with
population and housing data on which to base their social and economic
development plans, policies and programs. It is therefore imperative to strengthen
partnership and linkages with the media as they will be of big help in assisting the
agency disseminate information to the wider public.

The Kapihan will be conducted at the Conference room of the Regional Director’s
Office starting from February to December of 2020. The group will also discuss key
programs and services such as the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) and
Civil Registration Services among others.

II. OBJECTIVES:

The conduct of the “Kapihan sa PSA RSSO II” aims to accomplish the following:

1. To disseminate programs, projects and services of PSA RSSO II

2. Strengthen ties, with the local media through a form of meeting
3. To increase partnership and linkages with the media

 4. To address common misperceptions in the activities such as the CPH and the
programs of PSA such as the PhilSys and Civil Registration Services among
others.
5. To drumbeat the PSA/s campaign in the conduct of the 2020 Census of
Population and Housing.
