Part 2: Areas to work on

I have observed from Mr. Forward lessons how he’s able to reduce his involvement
in class. I have learned that TTT is a disadvantage in most lessons and there are
ways to decrease it by using ICQs, which I intend to apply from now on. And this
brings me to CCQs, which I have become good at creating them, most of the times
I forget to include them in the lesson plan, or I simply do not use them in my TPs.
So Mr. Griffin suggested that they come in handy particularly in a vocabulary
lesson.

I learned to write clearly on the board and try to include phonetics for clarification of
pronunciation especially with contractions, assimilation etc. Drilling in forms such
as back chaining or syllabic indication are very important and whilst I have only
introduced consistent identification and correcting in my last few lessons I think it is
a technique that helps the students a great deal. Checking progress in group work
especially in classes such intermediate where there may be a wide range of
abilities.

Observing one of my peers, Mr. Alejandro Castillo, I notice how he’s able to
effectively us guided discovery activities in grammar or vocabulary lessons. This
will definitely be one of the techniques I intend to apply in the future.
