ABSTRACT

This phenomenological study was instigated to explore and understand the lived
experiences of civil engineering students of Aguan del Sur State College of Agriculture
and Technology. Subsequently, this qualitative exploration hoped to pull out insights on
the lived experiences especially the hardships of BSCE students in ASSCAT. Qualitative
Phenomenological approach was used with 10 participants IDI. Related Literatures from
previous studies were utilized as one of the references. Results showed that the most
common lived experiences of the students are hardships, and these are time
management, experiencing hardships in catching up with the lessons, SHS strand was
not in lined with the course, and lack of equipment and facilities. Meanwhile, their
coping mechanisms are strive harder in studies, changing behavioral patterns, and
controlling oneself. On the other hand, aspirations and insights of them are as follows:
reflecting from the mistakes they made, and achieving goals. The study concludes that
the BSCE students’ hardships affect their academic performances.
