 PROFESSIONAL
1. In the words “professional manner”, “gawang propesyonal”, “professional fee for expert
services rendered” imply one who possesses skill and competence/ expertise.
2. “Highly professional”, “unprofessional…to act that way” imply a code of ethics by which a
professional person abide.

Professional- one who conforms to the technical or ethical standards of a profession.

 Presidential Decree 1006 (PD 1006)- Decree Professionalizing Teachers


o The first legal document that professionalized teaching issued by former
President Ferdinand E. Marcos, year 1976. (Civil Service)
 Republic Act 7836 (RA 7836)- Philippines Teachers Professionalization Act of 1994
o Passed to promote quality education by proper supervision and regularization of
the licensure exam/professionalization {Sec.2}… (Civil Service to PRC)
o RA 9293-An Act Amending Certain Secs. of RA 7836 Sec. 15 [e]
 American Regime
 Act 74 of 1901 by Philippine Commission, created the DPI (Department of Public
Instruction) which laid the foundations of Public School System and offered Free
Primary Education for Filipinos.
-Establishment of PNS (Philippine Normal School) formally opened Sept.1901-
training
1928 became junior college- offers 2 year program
1949 PNS to Philippine Normal College- offers 4 year program
 Pensionados- bright Filipino students who took up higher education in America to
become Teachers in the Philippines.
 VOCATION- Latin word ‘Vocare’ means “to call”. A Calling to do Something, tom Serve.
 MISSION- Latin word “mission’ means “to send”. Task assigned. Sent to accomplish
assigned task.
