Summary
The stage of maturity in the conditions of harvest and storage are critical factors that
determine the post-harvest quality of the fruit. The main limiting factors for the shelf life
of Fragaria sp. Varieties have been microbial growth and loss of firmness. Therefore, this
research proposes the use of cinnamon as an antimicrobial agent with the presence of
cinnamic aldehyde which has antibacterial, antifungal activity and inhibits the production
of mycotoxins. The cinnamon essential oil concentrations used in the tests were 125 ppm,
250 ppm, 500ppm and 1000 ppm, these concentrations were incorporated into the PDA
culture medium, after the sterility test they were inoculated as discoidal explants of 4mm
samples of Botrytis sp taken with a punch from a colony of seven days of development,
incubated at 25 ° C and placed in the center of Petri dishes with treatments. The
experiment was incubated at 25 ° C for eleven days. Three repetitions were performed for
each treatment. Petri dishes with PDA were used as a positive control and PDA boxes
with more dichlorum at 1 ppm represented the negative control. Subsequently, the
development of the colonies was evaluated, considering a fungicidal effect in those who
did not present fungus and fungistatic growth for those who did.
