Toshiba MFPs Featuring Self-Encrypting Drives with Wipe-

Technology
Toshiba is proud to announce that the e-STUDIO6550c series and e-STUDIO4540c series MFPs
now feature the world’s first Self- Encrypting Drives (SED) equipped with Toshiba's proprietary
Wipe Technology and suite of security functions that bring an unsurpassed level of data protection
to IT equipment. Wipe Technology allows users to determine a range of security settings,
including invalidation of encryption keys and data invalidation when a drive is removed from its
housing or connected to an unauthorized host
system.
Toshiba’s new hard drive Wipe Technology
improves data security and reduces the risk of
leaks of sensitive information stored on copiers
and printers.
Secure HDD Features

 Unlike previous models, the HDD

encryption is performed by the HDD itself
and not the controller

 The encryption key is also securely

stored on the HDD and not the controller

 In the event that the HDD is removed or

stolen from the MFP and installed into
another device, the HDD data is
invalidated automatically

 If the HDD is returned to the MFP

without being installed into another
device, data will not be invalidated and is
accessible

 When a MFP is at the end of its lease or

end of life, data can be instantly
invalidated by the service technician
