and I will be the one who will
check that later.

B. Recall So last meeting we discussed

about permutation, let’s have first
a recap. I have here seven
questions and I need seven
students to answer it. All you have
to do is to choose the right answer
from column B and you’ll write it
on column A.

 What is the best policy?  What is the best policy?

Very good everyone, thank you!

Now class, how do you define Ma’am permutation is the

again what is permutation? Yes arrangement numbers or orders
Delos Santos? into one to one correspondence
with itself.

Very good Delos Santos!

C. Motivation Before we proceed to our next

lesson, please try to solve this
question according on your own
understanding.
1. How many groups of 5 girls n= 12 r=5
can be taken from 12 in 12!
C(12,5) =
the class? 5! (12 − 5)!
12!
C(12,5) =
5! (7)!
C(12,5) = 792
Thank you, later we’ll go back to
this question and we’ll see if you
get the correct answer.
5 mins D. Lesson
Proper
1. Presentation of Our new topic for today is about
the lesson “Combination” and here are the
following objectives we need to
attain this morning.
Please read it Tendido!

2. Presentation of OBJECTIVES OBJECTIVES

10 mins 3. Activity
a. Pre-activity Now, before we continue we will
have another activity to help us
attain these objectives. I will
group you into four. We will do a
quiz bee for our activity. Here’s
your material for your activity.
We will have 3 levels for our quiz
bee the easy, average and
difficult. Each level has their own
corresponding points. For easy 1
point, average 3 points, and
difficult 5 points. I will only give
you 45 seconds for each question.
I will post the questions in the
board so please be attentive class.
Okay? You need to raise your
answer after I told you to raise it
to prevent copying your answer by
the other groups. Did you get it Yes Ma’am
class?
Do you have any question class? None Ma’am!
Please start counting! (students will start counting)

Okay! Let us have first an example

in solving combination. Jean
please come in front and try to
solve this problem.

Example:
1. Andrea has 4 new blouses (Pink, Jean’s Answer:
blue, red and white) and 3 new N = 4 x 3 = 12 possible outfit
skirt (red, black and blue). Let us combinations
help her to choose her outfit for
today.

Very good Jean!

Next Eva, please answer number 2
using the given formula!

2. In how many ways can (Using the formula)

committee consisting of 5 n=9 r=5
members can be formed from 9 n!
C(n, r) =
people? r! (n − r)!

9!
C(9,5) =
5! (9 − 5)!

9!
C(9,5) =
5! (4)!

9! 8! 7! 6! 5! 4! 3! 2! 1!
C(9,5) =
5! 4! 3! 2! 1! 4! 3! 2! 1!

362880
C(9,5) =
2880

C(9,5) = 126 𝑤𝑎𝑦𝑠

Very Good Eva!

b. Activity proper Now, let’s start our activity!

(SEE THE ATTACHED

QUESTIONNAIRE FOR QUIZ BEE)

c. Post Activity Very nice class! How did you find

our activity class? I think it was a bit challenging
because we’re able to analyze
worded problem ma’am.

Okay, nice!
10 mins Analysis and Now let us analyze the questions
Abstraction one by one.
For question number 1, how did
you get 3 as your answer? Ma’am we just simply multiply r
which is 2 and n which is 3. So,
N = r x n, N = 3 x 2, therefore
N=6
Very good explanation!

How about question number 2, Ma’am we just substitute the

how did you get 495 as your given value of n and r to the
answer? Yes Pacis? formula.

Excellent Pacis!

How about question number 3? Ma’am just like what we did at

How did you get 10 and identify question number two and in the
the needed subsets? needed subsets we list down
every three elements.

Very good!

Lastly, for question number 4?

How did you get 210 as your We analyzed that the value of n
answer? is 10 and r is 6, so we simply
substitute it to the given
formula.
Good job class!

It shows that you already

understand our activity. Now,
based on your activity, how can
you define what combination is? Ma’am combination is the
Yes Mirabueno? arrangement of objects without
any reference order.

Very good Mirabueno! Now,

here’s the full definition of
combination. Who can read it? Yes
Valeza?

COMBINATIONS COMBINATIONS
- is a way of arranging objects - is a way of arranging
wherein order is not objects wherein order is
important and it determines not important and it
of different ways possible. determines of different
ways possible.

Thank you Valeza!

Now let’s go back to the question

that you answer a while ago, since
we’re already done discussing our
topic for today I want you to check
your answer if you got it correctly. n= 12 r=5
Mojeco, please show me on the 12!
C(12,5) =
board your final answer. 5! (12 − 5)!
12!
C(12,5) =
5! (7)!
C(12,5) = 792

Did you get the right answer class?

Yes ma’am!
Great work class!

Now, where do you think we can Ma’am we can use combination

5 mins Application in business like restaurant, we
use combination with our real life
activities? Yes Agudo? can used it in selecting different
Excellent example Arian! menus we are going to serve
every day.

Perfect!
Another, anyone from the class? Ma’am we can also use
Yes Abias? combination with our daily
outfit.
Very Good Abias!
Now class, do you have any
question regarding to our topic for None Ma’am!
today?

Okay if you don’t have any

question, please prepared ¼ sheet
of pad paper for your quiz!
VI. EVALUATION
Answer the following question.
1. How many 13 cards hands can be made from a deck of 52 cards?
2. Out of 7 consonants and 4 vowels, how many words of 3 consonants and 2 vowels can be
formed?
VII. ASSIGNMENT
1. In group of 6 boys and 4 girls, 4 children are to be selected. In how many different ways they
can be selected such that at least one boy should be there?
2. In how many different ways can the letters of the word “OPTICAL” be arranged so that the
vowels always come together?
3. Search for the meaning of events and sample space. Give at least 5 examples.
