Project 1: Personal Prescription Paper

There are a few factors in my personal life that I will change for the sake of my overall

health and well-being, which also affects the longevity of my life. These factors currently affect

my life negatively and will be changed into something that I can actually benefit from. After

completing an online health self-assessment, there are a few things I have to work on to reach my

goal of becoming a healthier person. In addition, after self-reflection on my health, I would like

to highlight factors that I will be improved. The first factor would have to be developing a

healthier and wholesome diet for natural energy that my body needs. It has been scientifically

proven that the food choices we make is important and vital to one’s health. Another factor I will

improve on is exercising and staying active every chance I get.

The first way I can get back on track with my health is to maintain a healthy diet filled

with vitamins and nutrients. This can be done by going to the grocery store and buying fruits,

vegetables, and natural food items. Honestly, in the past few months I have to admit that I have

not been eating healthy like I am supposed to. Since I have such a busy schedule, I have been

unable to maintain a healthy diet and consequently, rely on fast food most of the time. Although,

I am aware that having a busy schedule is not an excuse for not eating healthy, but for me in this

particular time, it was. Furthermore, ever since the new year has begun, I have been eating out

tremendously less and making my own meals at home. Now that I started making my own meals

at home, I can further focus on maintaining a wholesome diet. So, now that I am more aware and

conscious of what I consume, I continue to strive to cook healthier and wholesome foods for

myself at home. In example, one common dish I cook is spaghetti because it is my favorite food.

However, when I first started cooking at home, I simply used regular spaghetti pasta, in which is

composed of large amounts in carbohydrates which is not healthy. A week and a half later, I find

myself making the same dish but with an alternative source of noodles, in this case, I used whole

wheat pasta. In my opinion, this is a step closer to healthy than the regular pasta. Moving from

one thing to another made me feel confident to go up and beyond and use another source for

pasta. I have not achieved this yet, but my next goal is to make spaghetti noodles with shredded

zucchini to fully eliminate carbohydrates in my diet.

Another factor I will improve on is exercise and movement, this includes physical

activity and other things that let me stay active throughout the day. I have a plan to become a

more active individual and this will be achieved by going to the gymnasium. By achieving this at

least once a day, it will allow me to become more active and healthier. In the past, I would not

exercise or go to the gymnasium and it really took a toll on my body. However, in this new year I

really want to become healthy, along with everyone else. Like I said, I plan to go back to the

gymnasium and run or jog for a minimum of thirty-minutes. I believe that I have an average

running stamina, but since I can do better, I want to push myself to become a good runner. Once

I acquire a good running speed by working on it every day, I would like to start lifting weights.

Some of my friends already do this and I want to do this because it will be increasing my

strength both physically and mentally. I know that if I actually do these activities on a daily

basis, I will be in better shape and an even healthier individual.

Thirdly, the last way I would like to develop a healthy lifestyle is to practice healthy-

mental mindsets. I am a firm believer in that one’s mindset goes hand-in-hand with their overall

performance in anything. What this means is that, if I want to achieve all these goals that I

mentioned to reach my full potential of a healthier life, I must be in a good mental state which

will continue to motivate me to keep up this effort to reach my goal. Personally, when I feel

down or unmotivated, it is most likely because my mindset is not at its highest. And sometimes

this affects me so much to the point where I get nothing done in some instances. Since, I am only

talking about myself, that is usually how it goes for me when I am not at my best. However,

when I am the most motivated and working tirelessly to achieve not only a healthier lifestyle, but

in work, school, and volunteering, it all works out when my mindset is thriving. One way to

promote this thriving mindset is to take personal days on occasion to gather my own thoughts

and improve on things that I did not do correctly. In addition, I plan on maintaining a healthy

state of mind by affirming myself when I get a step closer to my goal and maybe even rewarding

myself. I strongly believe that if promote a good mental state throughout all my endeavors, this

will motivate me further to complete and achieve all these goals of mine.

Finally, in conclusion, it is vital to sustain such a healthy lifestyle for our overall health and

well-being. Ever since we have discussed the significance of health and its affect to our lives, it

has opened my eyes to a new prospect. From the way we eat, to the amount of movement we do,

to the strength of our mental state all affect the way we do things in our lives and if we improve

on these things we improve our work performance and other things that come along with this

health journey. I am both excited and dedicated too diligently work towards this new, healthier

version of myself and in all the aspects it comes with.
