1 In 2017, the total food sales nationwide amounted to more than $2 trillion.

Given this,
we can absolutely say that the food industry is one of the most lucrative businesses any
entrepreneur can delve in. We are aiming to introduce to the masses a unique restaurant
providing the experience of living the life in a mountain. With this, we came up with the
idea of a traditional Filipino-themed restaurant located in the highland of Silay City that
will be called Kalan-an Sa Bukid.

2 A 2019 audit in the country has shown a "shocking" amount of single-use plastic. Every
day, almost 48 million plastics are used throughout the Philippines totaling to 17 billion
a year. The main problem that we are addressing is the issue of plastic waste pollution.

3 Kalan-an Sa Bukid will be offering purely Filipino dishes, appetizers, drinks, and
desserts. As per design, furniture and decorations will be made of bamboo, shells, and
other traditional materials that will be bought directly from the natives. Furthermore, the
vibe of the place will provide the actual feel of living in a mountain: away from the noise
of the city, closer to nature and genuine tranquility.

4 Our solution in addressing the problem is the use of non-plastic materials in our
restaurant specifically small woven trays with banana leaves, clay pots and clay pans,
winnowing baskets, and bamboo glasses. Furthermore, we will be providing the
customers a 25% discount if they’ll bring their own food containers and tumblers for
their take-out food. Aside from that, Kalan-an sa Bukid will also offer bamboo tumblers
and non-plastic food containers for those who won’t be able to bring their own for take-
outs.

5 The main sources of Kalan-an sa Bukid’s revenue are the Filipino dishes and the locally
made products.

6 Our management staff as shown here in the organizational chart will include the two of
us as the owners and managers, 3 cooks, 1 cashier, 5 waiters, and 2 utility personnel.

7 The marketing strategy that we will be using is online promotion and participation in
food fairs that will be held in different malls around the province. Here are our websites:

9 Our main competitors will be Lantawan View, Feel Us Café, Duyan Café, and Rooster
Café in Patag, Silay City. Kalan-an sa Bukid’s edge against them is that we actually bring
people back to the traditional “Kabuhi sa Bukid” while making them contribute in saving
the environment and offering them a different menu than all the usual cafes have.
