2. Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Control (QC) and Testing

Supplier should have specialized in design, manufacturing, assembly and testing of transformers for a
minimum 5 years with relevant Solar Project Experience. Supplier should have a well-documented QA/QC
program in place for all activates associated with procurement, design, manufacturing and testing of
transformers and components. Supplier must have ISO 9001 certified manufacturing facility (s)

Testing on each transformer shall be performed as IEC 60076 including but not limited to the
following.

• Measurement of winding resistance

• Measurement voltage ration and check of phase displacement
• Measurement short circuit impedance and load loss
• Measurement of no-load loss and current
• Dielectric testes
• Leak test with pressure
• Determination of capacitances windings to earth and between windings
• Measurement of no-load loss and current at 90% and 110% of rated voltage
• Determination of sound level

Type Test:

In addition to the routine tests, In case these tests are not conducted on the project transformers, test
certificates for similar transformers will be provided for reference.

1. Lightning impulse test

2. Temperature rise test
3. Air pressure and vacuum test
4. Unbalanced current test

Functional Tests:

Transformer tap-changers, cooling equipment, emergency stop, temperature relays, their controls and all
other auxiliary equipment shall be operated to prove that they are functioning satisfactorily before the
transformers are put into service. Apart from all the above tests, the insulation of all low voltage windings
and wiring shall be tested with Megger test after installation. Measurement of voltage ratio at every tap
position will be measured.

5
3. Appendix A : Other specific requirements for following transformers

(1) LV Side insulation

LV Cable insulation voltage shall be of 1.9 / 3.3kV for IDT and Auxiliary Transformer.

(2) Static shields

Static shields shall be applied between the low voltage windings and high voltage windings and
the shields must be grounded according to relevant standards.

(3) Harmonics

3 levels PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) topology is adopted in the inverter. The transformer
shall be designed to be suitable for wave distortion of current and voltage wave described in
item (4).
Total harmonic distortion of current : 5%

(4) Voltage wave and insulation

Output voltage of the inverter has wave sharp peculiar to the PWM inverter as follows. Phase
to phase voltage at the inverter output becomes smooth sinusoidal wave but phase to ground
voltage becomes sinusoidal wave superimposed by ripples. The ripples are caused from PWM
with carrier frequency of 3.6kHz that is main frequency of the ripples. The ripples have voltage
gradient dV/dt of maximum value of 1500V /micro sec. The ripples superimposed in phase to
ground voltage are eliminated through the transformer and are not appeared in phase to ground
voltage of the high voltage windings. When DC circuit is grounded intentionally or accidentally,
phase to ground voltage might have peak a little bit higher than the Max. DC input voltage
(1500V).

The transformer shall have insulation withstanding the wave sharp.

A .Inverter input DC voltage; DC1500V, DC circuit grounded at N pole

Phase to Ground Voltage Phase to Phase Voltage

6
(5) Others

The laws, rules or standards to be applied for the arrangement and the installation of the
transformer shall be followed. The climate and the atmosphere of the area shall be taken into
consideration for the requirements. Power to the transformer from the inverter varies between
0% and the rated 100% at night and day and even within a day due to change of irradiation. The
variation of the power should be taken into consideration on the design of the transformer
