Saraburi Plant
(Siam City Cement Company)
At this plant, a new 20 tph integrated system for
the treatment of solid waste has recently been
commissioned. This new concept consists of five key
machines: a fixed crane, shredder, screen, heavy/light
separator, and granulator. This installation will deliver
two final products, heavy and light solids. Six new
feed systems for the six clinker production lines will
be operational in the first half of 2007. This includes
systems for tyres, sludge, and solid fuels. The
platform itself is being constructed next to the cement
kilns.
SCCC has also installed a ROTAFLAM® burner,
supplied by Pillard, on kiln line 1. This burner can be
used for firing coal and/or heavy fuel oil. Pillard also
supplied the primary air measuring transmitters, one
spare burner outer pipe and spare burner tips.

two VENTOSORT/HP bag treating
groups and two INFILROT BU automatic
bag applicators.
Siam City Cement
HGH Infrared Systems has equipped two kilns with a
dedicated solution for process control. It included two
Kilnscan21 infrared scanner systems for rotary kiln shell
temperature monitoring with full options. One Kilnscan
system included two infrared scanner heads in order to
efficiently monitor the full kiln length.

VIETNAM
Ba Ria Vung Tau Plant
(Cam Pha Cement Company)
FCB Ciment supplied a Twin Horomill® system to
this company, an affiliate of Vietnam Construction
Import Export Corporation (Vinaconex). The mill began

operations at the end of 2006 and produces 240 tph of
pozzolanic cement with the lowest energy consumption
in this field. The grinding plant is located in the Ba Ria
Vung Tau province in the south of Vietnam, and will
produce 1.48 million tpa of PCB 40 grade cement. This
cement grinding plant is the first to benefit from the new
development of Horomill® technology.
Bim Son Cement Plant (IHI)
Hazemag & EPR GmbH has received an order from
Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries (IHI) for the supply
of two crushing plants to the this plant in Vietnam.
The limestone crushing plant is designed to
handle 1400 tph,
and comprises a

clay crushing plant,
in addition to the feed apron
conveyor, is a further development of the Type HDS 1400
x 1200 double-shaft hammer crusher with a capacity of
250 tph. Delivery is scheduled for this November.
Also at this plant, Loesche supplied a coal grinding
mill (type LM 35.3 D), as well as a raw material grinding
mill (type LM 56.4).
In addition to this, FCB Ciment will supply two cement
mills. The two mills are mounted on shoe-bearings
measuring 4.6 m dia. x 14.75 m length, 4500 kW power
and will have a unit capacity of 125 tph. The plant is
expected to be operational by the end of 2008.
Furthermore, Bedeschi will supply a series of raw
materials handling machines, including:
l Circular storage for limestone, with a total stacking
volume of 47 000 t, 86 m dia. storage, a storage
production nominal of 1400 max, and 1680 tph and
800 tph for reclaiming system.
l Longitudinal stacker (type STK 24/1400), with a
nominal capacity of 1400 tph and a 550 tph frontal
reclaimer type PAL T 200/40.
l Coal storage system, with a total stored volume of
12 000 t, stacking capacity 200 tph and reclaiming
capacity 150 tph, complete with a mobile and
reversible belt conveyor with a capacity of 200 tph.
l Pal F 100/22 lateral scraper with a nominal capacity
of 150 tph.
l Clay storage: storage system with belt conveyor
stacking bridge type “STKP” and reclaiming with
“Bel C” excavator.

The machines are being delivered about now and
commissioning is scheduled for the end of the year.
Binh Phuoc (Ha Tien 1 Cement Company)
Ha Tien 1 Cement Company has placed an order
with Loesche GmbH for a slag grinding mill (type LM
53.3+3) to be installed at its clinker grinding plant
located inland in the Binh Long District. The order
includes transport
from jetty to plant,
gypsum/additive
storage with
stacker/reclaimer, the
prehopper building,
complete grinding
plant with transport
to product silo. The
mill is guaranteed
to produce 150
tph OPC or 180
tph PCB 40 at
3500 cm²/ g and
is equipped with a
4000 kW gear box.
The expected date of
delivery is September 2009.
But Son Cement Plant
(Kawasaki Plant Systems Ltd)
Bedeschi was awarded a contract by Kawasaki
Plant Systems, Ltd for the supply of three
CNPD 3.5/1000 A C apron feeders for the But Son
Cement Plant. Each apron feeder is dedicated to a
type of material: one is for clay, one for iron ore and
one for clinker. The material will be delivered by the
end of the Summer.
Also at this plant, Siemens Industrial Solutions and
Services Group (I&S) will supply electrical equipment,
including the power supply and drive systems, along
with automation technology and field instrumentation.
The new line is scheduled to commence production in
June 2009.
In light of the consistently strong demand from the
country’s construction industry, Busoco is now building
a second cement line at the same location, doubling
its production capacity. Kawasaki Plant Systems,
part of the Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) group, is
responsible for planning, project engineering, supply and
supervision for the entire cement line including the raw
mill, coal mill and rotary kiln. Siemens is supplying the
medium and low-voltage power engineering systems for
the new line, including switchgear and a motor control
centre (MCC). Medium-voltage power factor correction
equipment will improve power supply quality. The scope
of delivery also includes 12 medium-voltage and 100
low-voltage drives and all the automation, including
software and instrumentation.

Chinfon Haiphong Cement Plant (Chinfong
Haiphong Cement Corporation)
Claudius Peters has received a contract to supply
four sets of 8-spout rotary packing machines with
accessories. The packing machines will be installed at
Chinfon Haiphong Cement Line No. II.
Also at this plant, Bedeschi S.P.A. has been awarded
a contract by Taiwan Cement Engineering Corporation
for the Chinfong Haiphong Cement Corporation, for the
supply of a clay stacker and reclaimer. The preblending
aim is to stack piles of incoming material that has
fluctuating features, and to reclaim it in order to create
output with constant features. This will be achieved
using a storage system with STKP stacking bridges and
a BEL C reclaimer.
Dong Nai Plant (Lafarge Xi Mang)
In July 2006, Lafarge inaugurated its first cement
grinding plant in Vietnam, just 18 months after the
unveiling of the foundation stone. This 500 000 t
grinding facility, which represents an investment of
US$30 million, is the first project of Lafarge Xi Mang,
the joint venture in which Lafarge owns a 70% interest
alongside a Vietnamese building materials company.
In Vietnam, the cement market has been
experiencing a remarkable rapid pace for ten years, with
annual growth averaging close to 15%, while facing
an annual cement production shortage of 1 million t.
Vietnam currently has to import over 4 million tpa of
clinker to cover its needs. This project is an integral part
of the Vietnamese Construction Ministry’s Development
Plan and aims to satisfy domestically the cement
demand especially for Ho Chi Minh City, a region
undergoing rapid economic and urban development.
Ha Tien 1 Cement Company
In partnership with Polysius, Ha Tien 1 Cement
Company plans to construct a new 5500 tpd clinker
production line in Thanh Luong village, located in the
Binh Long District on the border of Cambodia, where
one of the largest raw material deposits in South
Vietnam is located. The plant is scheduled to start
production at the beginning of 2009 and the scope of
delivery comprises:
l A 2-stage crusher for limestone, clay and laterite.
l An online analyser.
l Two circular blending beds (100 000 t and 40 000 t
storage capacity).
l Storage facilities for limestone, clay and sand.
l A roller mill for the raw material grinding system
(450 tph output).
l A tangential blending silo (20 000 t).
The kiln plant will also be supplied, comprising:
l A 5-stage DOPOL® `90 preheater with PREPOL® CC
calciner.
l A POLRO rotary kiln (5.0 m dia. x 75 m).

l A REPOL® cooler.
l A clinker silo (80 000 t).
l Coal grinding plants (2 x 9000 t storage capacity).

In July 2006 Ha Tien 1 Cement Company placed an
order with Loesche GmbH for one clinker grinding mill (type
LM 53.3+3). In December 2006, it placed a repeat order
for a further clinker grinding mill of same type. The order
includes the transport from jetty to plant, gypsum/additive
storage with stacker/reclaimer, the prehopper building,
and complete grinding plant with transport to product silo.
The mill will produce 150 tph OPC, or 180 tph PCB 40 at
3500 cm²/g and is equipped with a 4000 kW gear box. The
expected date of delivery is September 2009.
Bedeschi received an order from Loesche GmbH
for the supply of a terminal for receiving, grinding
and distributing cement at the plant. The total project
investment scope includes a 150 tph cement grinding
system and two 120 tph cement packaging systems. The
company also supplied bulk and bagged cement truck
loading systems and ship loading dispatch systems with
a capacity of 1.0 million tpa.
Bedeschi’s scope of supply includes technological
sections from material receiving and storing (clinker,
gypsum, additives), transporting materials to the
feed bin of cement mills, storages and dedusting.
CTP Team will also design and supply the complete
dedusting section of the plant. The delivery of material is
scheduled for October.
Holcim (Vietnam)
Reducing NOx emissions was Holcim’s priority when
it contracted Pillard to supply the NEUTRINOX® urea
injection system. To optimise the injection method
and location of the urea, Pillard has made field
measurements and a FLUENT® study. The supplied
equipment included pumps, regulating valve trains,
atomising injectors and a control system.
Phu Son Cement Plant
Czech engineering firm Inekon Group has been
appointed general contractor for the construction of a
new cement plant in Vietnam.
The e115 million contract was awarded by Phu Son
Cement JSC and the project will be financed by the
Czech Export Bank.

Thai N’Guyen Cement Plant.
Supplies to the project began in the first quarter of this
year, and the plant is scheduled for completion within three
years.
Song Gianh Plant (Cosevco)
ABB announced that the Song Gianh cement plant,
Cosevco’s (Midland Construction Corporation) new
1.4 million tpa facility in Vietnam, has been successfully put
into operation. Completion of the project was one of the
fastest in Vietnam in recent years.
This rapid schedule was made possible due to the
excellent cooperation between all involved parties. The
Song Gianh cement plant is now producing with the
newest technology amidst the strong demand of a growing
cement market. The perspectives of this cement plant in
the middle of Vietnam are extremely good. The near 6 km2
plant area includes high quality limestone mountains and a
river port.
ABB delivered the complete electrical and automation
equipment, engineering, design, training, supervision and
commissioning for the total cement plant. The ABB scope
of supply included power distribution, DriveIT medium
and low voltage motors and drives, OperateIT control
systems and OptimizeIT optimisation systems as well as
communication and instrumentation systems. Deliveries for
the infrastructure comprised cables, lighting, earthing and
lightning protection and the fire detection system.
Song Thao Plant (Lilama 69-3 Company)
In December 2006, the company placed an order with
Loesche GmbH for three vertical roller mills to be installed at
this plant. The contract includes:
l 1 x coal dry-grinding plant with a grinding mill (type LM
20.2 D).
l 1 x raw material grinding plant with a grinding mill (type
LM 38.4).
l 1 x clinker grinding plant with a grinding mill (type LM
46.2+2 C/S).
The scope of supply also covers engineering, erection
supervision and commissioning services.
Thai N’Guyen Cement Plant (Vinaincon)
The new 4000 tpd greenfield cement plant contracted
between FCB Ciment and Vinaincon at the end of 2005
is now under construction. The plant is located 15 km
from Thai Nguyen City, about 105 km north of Hanoi.
The contract includes the detailed engineering, the

mechanical and electrical equipment, and the supervision
of construction, erection and commissioning. The
single string preheater designed by FCB Ciment will
be associated with the FCB Low-NOx precalciner. This
precalcincer has already proven capable of burning 100%
of Vietnamese low-volatile anthracite coal with very low
NOx emissions at the 4000 tpd Hoang Mai cement plant,
also supplied by FCB Ciment. A Twin Horomill® system,
with a capacity of 240 tph will equip the cement grinding
plant and allow the lowest consumption of electricity
compared to other technologies. Shipments of the
imported equipment were completed in May.
FCB Ciment selected Pillard to supply one ROTAFLAM®
kiln burner firing pulverised anthracite and heavy fuel oil
for the new Thai N’Guyen plant. Pillard also supplied one
precalciner burner (anthracite and heavy fuel oil), hot gas
generators for the raw mill and coal mill, and complete
heavy fuel oil preparation units.
Thanh Liem Plant (Hoa Phat Cement)
Gebr. Pfeiffer AG received a contract for the supply of
machinery and equipment to this plant located in the Thanh
Liem district, Ha Nam province. Gebr. Pfeiffer will supply the
following equipment:
l 1 x MPS 4750 BC 150 tph cement mill.
l 1 x MPS 3750 B 200 tph raw mill.
l 1 x MPS 250 BK 18 tph coal mill.
The cement plant is one of Hoa Phat Group’s
investment projects in 2007 aimed at meeting the
increasing high demand in the Vietnamese market. The
project is divided into two phases, the total investment
capital being around VND1200 billion. The expected
capacity of the plant after completion of the first phase
is 1 million tpa. After the second phase, this will rise to
2 million tpa.
Thay Ninh Plant (TAFICO)
In August 2006, Gebr. Pfeiffer AG signed a contract
with Tianjin Cement Industry Design & Research Insitute
(TCDRI), which is owned by the Chinese Sinoma Group.
The deal will see Gebr. Pfeiffer AG supply three vertical
roller mills.
The vertical roller mills are to be installed at a new
4000 tpd plant owned by Fico Tay Ninh Cement Joint Stock
Company (TAFICO). The plant will be built on a greenfield
site located in Thay Ninh, in the Quin Chan province near
the Cambodian border. As general contractor, TCDRI will be
in charge of the installation of the whole facility.
The MPS 4750 BC cement mill will have a capacity of
150 tph, achieving a product Blaine fineness of 3200 cm2/g.
The raw mill, an MPS 4750 B, will have a throughput of
320 tph ground to a fineness of 12% R 0.090 mm, and the
MPS 3070 BK coal mill will be designed for a throughput of
30 tph with a product fineness of 3% R 0.090 mm.
In addition to the core equipment for the grinding plants,
the contract covers the supply of workshop drawings
for local manufacture of mill components, supervision
of manufacture in Chinese workshops, supervision of
installation and commissioning, training and supply of
spares. The commissioning of the facility is slated for early
2008.
