This is an article written by Michael Strain about the Republican President Donald Trump

Donald Trump isn’t funny anymore, and we all have to stop him
In the beginning, it was very entertaining. His descent down the golden escalator. His
ability to fill stadiums. Taking children for helicopter rides. Having his private
plane tip its wing to the crowd. Telling a kid that he is Batman. Smacking around the
5 other candidates. “I’m really rich.” “We will have so much winning if I get elected
that you may get bored with winning.” “I went to the Wharton School of Business.
I’m, like, a really smart person.”

The presidential campaign of Donald J. Trump was funny. Now that he has won New
10 Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada, it isn’t funny anymore. Now that he has won
the endorsement of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, any remaining trace of humour is
gone. All that remains is terrifying.

Some look for a silver lining in the hope that Trump’s policy rhetoric may be
15 pretence. I agree that, if he’s elected, there’s a good chance he won’t pursue the
policies he has championed. He might not round up and deport 11 million men,
women and children who are living unlawfully in the United States in less than two
years. He might not establish a police state. He might not impose massive tariffs and
risk trade wars. Maybe so; maybe not. Trump is simply unfit to hold this office.
20
He called for a Muslim registry. He wants to send Syrian refugees back to Syria. He
has publicly employed misogyny and has publicly stated lists of women with whom
he would like to have sex. He has mocked the disabled. He admires Vladimir Putin.
He might have ties to organized crime. From the start, his campaign has appealed to
25 the darker angels of our nature, generating support by attacking the vulnerable and
rousing fear and suspicion of the other. It is no surprise that years before the 2016
campaign, Trump was a leading figure stirring suspicion that President Obama was
not born in the United States. Trump is deeply morally offensive. Why would we
assume he would not continue to be that way as president?
30
Donald Trump could win not just the Republican nomination, but the White House.
He must be stopped. But he can be stopped only by us.

It’s not funny anymore.

This is an article about the actions of a Judge from the newspaper the Leeds Mercury.

Yesterday an unusual scene took place at this court, which is held in the
Oddfellows’ Hall. The latter has recently been undergoing repairs, and the
Judge (Mr. F. A. Bedwall), on taking his seat, detecting a somewhat strong
smell of paint, remarked that it was a preposterous thing for a Judge on circuit
5 to have a room in that state to receive him. He could not and would not
attempt to remain there, for not only would it be injurious to his own health,
but also to the health of those with whom he had to deal.
He certainly should not think of remaining to do his work in a room smelling so
strongly of paint as that was; and therefore, if they could not find some other
10 room, they must try and find accommodation at some hotel. A person in court
suggested that he could move to the police-court, but the place would be very
cold. His Honour remarked that he would rather endure the cold of the North
Pole than stay in a room smelling so strongly of paint as that.
An adjournment was then made to the police-court, where the business of the
15 day was transacted. A Mrs. Flint, of Pooklington, sued her neighbour, Mrs.
Baker, for damages done to a bonnet. It seems that Mrs. Flint had lent a Mrs.
Winter a black crepe bonnet for the purpose of attending a funeral. The article
was returned in proper condition, and shortly afterwards was lent out to Mrs.
Baker for a similar purpose. It was returned in about a fortnight, much the
20 worse for wear, and almost useless. It was very much greased inside, and
appeared to have been in the wet. The defendant informed his Honour that
she returned the bonnet ‘in good faith’. The Judge responded: ‘that is not the
question; it is whether you returned it in good condition.’ The defendant
having admitted that the bonnet was an uncomfortable one, and would not
25 stay upon her head, was ordered to pay us damages.
