The President of the Republic, João Lourenço,


today, received the leader of UNITA, Adalberto
Costa Júnior, with whom he discussed the
political, economic and social reforms underway
in the country, since August 2017.
Speaking to the press at the end of the meeting,
Adalberto Júnior stressed that the audience also
served to analyze the national reconciliation
process, the need for changes to the
Constitution and the Electoral Law, as well as
the holding of municipal elections, scheduled
for this year.
UNITA leader, who encouraged President João
Lourenço to continue the fight against
corruption, considered that it was an open
dialogue and hopes to continue in the future,
with the aim of creating trust and
rapprochement between the Government and
the opposition.
Adalberto Júnior, elected the third president of
UNITA in November 2019, considers that the
country needs to build a stable, vigorous and
cohesive democracy in its institutions.

Germany Chancellor, Angela Merkel will visit
Angola this Friday to deepen relations between
the two countries.
The German Chancellor will have a meeting
with the President of the Republic, João
Lourenço and they will open the German-
Angolan Economic Forum.
The Chancellor will visit the Museum of
Anthropology, which started a cooperation
program with the Goethe-Institute Angola and
the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation, as
well as a German company in the Angolan
capital.
This is Chancellor Angela Merkel's second visit
to Angola, the first of which took place in 2011,
when the two states agreed to extend their
partnership.

The action against the former chairperson of the


Board of Sonangol, Isabel dos Santos will start
next March, aimed at recovering the assets

accounts and shareholdings of Isabel Dos Santos

The country started the preparation for the


celebration of the 45 years independence
anniversary.
This was announced yesterday in Benguela by
the home affairs minister, Eugenio Laborinho,
while addressing the 59th anniversary of the
begining of the armed struggle.
The event will run under the motto ´´Angola 45
years of national Independence, Unity, Stability
and Development.

Angola is considered an ideal country for the


wildlife due to the existence of a significant
wildness area.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of the
Elephant Protection Initiative, Miles Geldard,
Angola has enough conditions for elephants to
live in and protect the biodiversity.
The official pointed the lack of infrastructure as
major challenge for the country.

The wife of the prime minister of Lesotho has
been formally charged in court with murdering
his previous wife.
First Lady Maesaiah Thabane has not yet been
asked to plead. She surrendered to police
yesterday for questioning.
Prime Minister Thomas Thabane has also been
questioned. His estranged wife, Lipolelo
Thabane, was shot dead outside her home in the
capital Maseru two days before his inauguration
in 2017. The couple were involved in bitter
divorce proceedings at the time.

Malawi's president Peter Mutharika says he will


contest a court ruling that overturned his
election last May.
Mr Mutharika, Malawi's president since 2014,
won the election with a 38.5% share of the vote.
Opposition party leader Lazarus Chakwera
came second with 35.41%
On Monday, judges annulled the vote, citing
irregularities, and ordered a new election within
150 days. There have been regular anti-
government protests since the election.
