We are very excited that our entire Golf Shop Staff will be returning for the fourth
season together! We have a wonderful team and are looking forward to offering you
the best possible service this golf season. Brendan is entering his fourth season as
Head Golf Professional and 13th season overall at Southview. We have a lot to be
excited about this year including our revamped Women's Twilight League, the World
Handicap System and of course our Brand New Golf Shop & Indoor Hitting Center
coming in 2020! All of which you will read about in this Golf Newsletter.

Will Dretsch
PGA ASSISTANT GOLF PROFESSIONAL
Will Dretsch, Lead Assistant Golf Professional, will again be handling a majority of
the golf instruction. He will be offering numerous clinics this upcoming season
including: Titleist Short Game Schools, Clinics & Cocktails, Pre-Season Junior After
School Clinics, a brand new putting clinic, as well as new offerings which are
highlighted in this newsletter! He will continue to oversee the Men’s League this
season!

Scott Parssinen
PGA ASSISTANT GOLF PROFESSIONAL
Scott Parssinen, Assistant Golf Professional, will be back for this fourth year at
Southview. Scott spent his off-season gaining PGA Membership and working at
SportsRadar in Minneapolis. In addition to competing in Minnesota PGA Events
quite often, Scott will be overseeing a majority of our Junior Instruction, the 18-
Hole Women’s League and serve as captain of our PGA Junior League Team!

Willem Dohne
ASSISTANT GOLF PROFESSIONAL
Willem Dohne, Assistant Golf Professional, will make his return from the warm
winter in Tempe, Arizona where he worked at Fire Rock Country Club. He is the go-to
guy for your re-gripping needs and will be running Women's Twilight League again
this year!

The Family Guest rate of $50 can
be used any time for any family

allowed on Fridays from 11:00 am-
2:00 pm and Saturdays from 7:00
am-10:30 am. 24 hours before any
restricted tee time a member may
bring up to 3 guests

The Junior Guest rate is $20
regardless of how many holes they
play! (This rate does not include an
Electric Cart. Cart fees for all
juniors, including member
dependents, are $10.*Must be 16
years or older to operate an
electric cart).
MEN'S LEAGUE
PURPOSE OF THE MEN'S LEAGUE
The league was started for the purpose of
promoting friendship and fellowship. There
is no lack of competition for those who are
seeking it along with great sportsmanship.
We are striving to rekindle old friendships
and foster new ones. All players are
encouraged to stay for dinner or
drinks afterward and exchange stories
and enjoy the experience.
TEE TIMES
Men’s League members are required to tee off Wednesday
between 7:30 am and 5:00 pm. You can play with your regular
groups! In order for your round to count towards weekly play you
must play with another league member.

LEAGUE FORMAT
The league format will consist of the following:
Teams will consist of six players. Playing in a season long event.
Team Format: Stableford Point System will be used and players
will accumulate points based on their net scores. Each week the
best two scores of the team will count towards the team game. A
season long leaderboard will show results each week.
Payout for team results is at the end of the season.
Individual Format: There will be an individual game as well that
will coincide with the team format. Players will be placed into
flights based on their handicaps and player turnout each week.
WHEN Payout for the individual game will be weekly.
Wednesday, May 27th is opening week.
League play will continue for the next 13
weeks on Wednesday. We will have a
SEASON ENDING Event on August 26th.

experience working with juniors. Will
is a Class A Certified PGA
Professional.Will has run many
successful junior programs over the
last 13 years and has had over 100
students participating in them. Will
has worked with juniors at all skill
levels, and has had the privilege of
teaching collegiate players as well as
professional athletes.
LADIES CLINICS
& COCKTAILS
Looking for a fun and relaxed way
to learn about and enjoy golf? Your
skill level doesn't matter, this is a
great way to socialize, learn and
have fun! After the clinic, one of the
instructors will join the group in the
clubhouse for the “Cocktail of the
Head Golf Professional Brendan Week” and discussion.
Cody will be available for private
or small group lessons throughout COST:

CAMP
This camp is an introduction to the
game and will be focused on
ensuring fun no matter what the
golfer’s ability! The Junior Golf
Camp’s purpose is to create an
interest in the game of golf in a fun,
non-competitive, friendly manner.

How Often Should You Regrip
Your Golf Clubs?
There are two ways to tell when you
need to regrip your clubs -- if your
grips look worn or if they are
slippery. You should replace your
grips about once a year, depending
on how often you play and the
conditions in which you play and
store your clubs. If you don't use a
glove, you might have to change
your grips more often than the
recommended time frame.
Change your grips every 18 months
if you play golf two or three times a
week. You are not overusing your
clubs and you are not wearing down
your grips. They should last you at
least 18 months.
Replace your grips at least every 12
months if you are playing four or
more times a week in Minnesota.
Your clubs should last you five or
more years, but to get the most out
of them, you should change the grips
yearly. Sweat, grime, high
temperatures and other weather
conditions will compel you to change

your grips if you want to get the
most out of them.

putting your clubs to the test and Free Drinks &

They will lose their elasticity quickly
when you use them that much.
Change your grips every two years
regardless of the conditions if you
don't play more than twice a week.
The rubber will lose its elasticity and
the leather will lose its moisture.
You want a club that responds to
your grip so don't hesitate to change
them if two calendar years have
gone by since the last time you
replaced them.

COUPLES JACK N' JILL EVENTS
BACK FOR 2020 are our Couples Jack n Jill Events! There
is no better way to spend your Holidays at Southview than
with 18-Holes of laid-back friendly competition followed
by a BBQ buffet on the deck! The price is $20 per couple,

TAPEMARK MN PGA PRO-AM

The 49th Annual is one of the biggest Pro-Ams in the
Midwest and has raised over $7.8 million for local
charities. This 3-day event brings the top Golf
Professionals and hundreds of Ams from the region to
compete at Southview!

A fun filled day of laid back golf with breakfast before

Members sign up with another member of their choosing

There is also an auction of teams on Friday at 6 pm.

JULY 25TH-26TH
Another major that is played in honor of our late Golf
Professional and Club Ambassador, Frank Fiorito! Pick
your own partner and sign up for this 2-day event.
Saturday's format is 1 Net Best Ball and Sunday's
format is 2 Ball Quota Points. Lunch is included after
golf Sunday.
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP
AUGUST 29TH-30TH
Tee times for the weekend will range from 7:30 AM -
10:30 AM. There will be a Championship Flight (Gross),
1st Flight (Gross), 2nd Flight (Gross), and a Net Flight and
a Masters Flight (White Tees) for ages 65+ for Men.
Women will have a Championship Flight (Gross) and 1st
Flight (Net). Women will automatically be entered into
both flights. There is also a senior flight for both Men &
Women.
