MATT: Hi, this is Matt.

SIMON: Hello, it's Simon. I've just spoken to my friend and he's not around after all, so I'd be
delighted to meet you on Saturday.
MATT: Great. What time is good for you?
SIMON: I've got to finish some work off here in the morning. The fast train from Birmingham gets in
at 2 p.m.
MATT: OK, I'll pick you up and take you to the hotel to drop your bags. We can then go to The
Lowry. Are you free for the whole afternoon?
SIMON: I'd quite like to do a little shopping if possible, you know, presents for the family.
MATT: I'm sure you can fit that in. There's a special market in the city centre this Saturday. It's very
popular, so it's going to be busy, but you might find some suitable gifts. Of course, there's always the
shop at the gallery.
SIMON: That certainly gives me some options.
MATT: You can go to the market after the Lowry visit and take your time to browse around. We can
meet up for dinner with Laura and Harish at 7 p.m. How does that sound?
SIMON: That sounds perfect.
MATT: What kind of food do you like? Manchester's got some great Chinese restaurants.
SIMON: Maybe not. I'm not so keen on Chinese food outside of Asia.
MATT: I can understand that. Do you have any other preferences?
SIMON: I don't mind. I'm easy. I quite like French food.
MATT: Yes, but you'll be in Paris next week.
SIMON: That's true. Do you have any suggestions? There's nothing I don't eat.
MATT: A colleague of mine – Harish, in fact – said there's a new restaurant just opened. He's heard
good things about it. We could try that if you like?
SIMON: What type of cuisine is it?
MATT: It's Italian, but I believe the chef is Swiss.
SIMON: I like the sound of that. Do you know what the dress code is?
MATT: It'll be smart casual. You won't need a tie. OK, so that's all agreed. Just give me a call on my
mobile if there's any change.
SIMON: I will.
MATT: We'll try to steer clear of business on Saturday, but if there is anything you want to discuss
with myself or Laura or Harish over dinner, we'd be pleased to do so.
SIMON: Thank you. That's very kind of you. I'm looking forward to it.
