2. Compare and contrast how the elements are used in the different genres
3. Analyze and interpret the theme and techniques used in a particular text
4. Create samples of the different literary elements based on one’s experience (e.g. metaphor to describe an
emotion)
Specific Learning Outcomes 1.1. Define each literary convention in a particular genre
1.2 Identify literary conventions in a given sample genre
2.1. Identify the various elements of each type of literary genre
2.2. Differentiate between the elements of each type of literary genre
3.1. Analyze the themes and techniques used in a given sample texts

Materials LCD projector, PowerPoint presentation, blackboard.
Resources

PROCEDURE:

I. Introduction
1. Ask a student to lead the prayer.
2. Checking of attendance.
3. Checking of seating arrangement and cleanliness of the classroom.
4. Discuss the learning outcomes of the topic.

II. Motivation
MYSTERY LITERARY BOX
1. Ask 5 volunteers from the class.
2. Ask each volunteer to pick one paper from the mystery box. (Mystery Literary Box should have paper with different literary genres)
3. The volunteer should use just action with no words or speaking to relay to the rest of the class what is in the paper.

III. Instructions/Delivery
1. After the motivational activity, ask the students to recap the different literary genres which were discussed in their creative writing subject.
2. Let the students identify the dominant literary conventions of some particular genre.
3. Discuss the different literary elements and let the students identify on what literary genre the elements fall.
4. Discuss the differences between the elements of the literary genres.

IV. Practice
EVALUATION OF A SAMPLE LITERATURE
1. Give the students a copy of the literature titled “We ate the Children Last” by Yann Martel.
2. Ask the students to identify literary conventions in the literature.
3. Let them analyze and interpret the themes and techniques used in a given sample texts.

V. Evaluation
WRITING ACTIVITY
1. Ask the students to get a one whole sheet of paper.
2. Ask them to create samples of the different literary elements based on one’s experience.
